Makes no sense, that arrangement would still hit the bottom line in the P&L if the club is just giving money away with no intention to receive it back. It's the equivelant of loaning somebody some money and having to write it off as bad debt. In fact it would be worse, because they'd have to recognise that in one go, rather than depreciation instalments. Hope they do it so we can see how they get creative.

As mentioned above, it's also a massive benefit in kind to the player. So he'd pay full tax on that. I suspect the simple solution is to just put him on a huge length contract so the deprecation is more spread out, and agree with the player a break point earlier where they can re-assess. Still could be issues about substance over form though.

PSG would need to gross the figure up to over €350m to include the tax Neymar would have to pay! Surely a cash payment to a player would still be included in FFP.
