He'll probably stay and see out his contract. Then in 6 months he can start talking to clubs/agree a deal without the hassle of clubs needing to agree a fee.
 
well by the sounds of it he wont be joining us on a free next season? didn't @tolmie's hairdoo say it was this year or none? pep 100% wants someone for this coming season so we move on and get someone else.
 
Yeah, I'm not sure we'd be back in for him next summer, even on a free. There would be a lot of other clubs in for him, and he'd be the wrong side of 30. He needs to hand in a formal transfer request, and so far it doesn't look like that will happen.

It wouldnt be a free once the signing on fee is taken into account. Now or never.
 
I for one am happy with the business concluded. Makes us so much better.

But this was the signing Pep wanted most and at least on here it seemed he was almost in the bag.


Mbappe was more of the if a potential Ronaldo is available we go for him regardless of whether we need him.

One question. Have we even bid on either?

Not sure whether you're overvaluing experience here, I don't think he'll be miles too young by next year.

Likely not. You generally wait for the player to make the first move.

I'm not convinced we need either. If it was down to me ( and thank Christ its not lol) I wouldn't want to shunt the development of Sane and Sterling. I personally think we are ready to go but it's pretty clear Pep thinks otherwise.

That said, when an opportunity like Mbappe presents itself, you take it. Period. He's once in a generation player.
 
Agree. Leroy will score plenty and if pre season is a guide so will Raheem.

But as you say Pep wants another. The question is who? The obvious profile for me is a senior pro who is happy to spend a lot of time on the bench.

There's been an undercurrent of rumour around us and Sanchez all summer. If he asks to leave before we've made a bid it'll be like Sterling all over again. Wenger will be making insinuations and he'll have the media on his side. For a club like ours who are almost fixated on doing and being seen to be doing the right thing, it wouldn't look good regardless of whether there was any foundation to it. I say we'll make a bid and he'll only ask to leave if no deal has been done with a couple of days to go. If I was him, I wouldn't ask for a move at all.
 
No 'stop gap' players.

Either a world class forward like sanchez, a genius kid, or go with what we have.

Signing a squad player, with all the attacking options we have, senior & kids, plus kids on loan, kids with buyback options etc etc, would make Pep as bad as Pellegrini imo.

Another player to shift next season.

Class or nothing.

Sanchez could depend on how arsenal start the season. If they win the first 2 and score well, especially lacazette, they many feel like they can let him go without the fans going too mental

If we don't sign Sanchez or mbappe, it could mean that Diaz gets a chance over the season. I agree, I don't think we should buy someone just for the sake of it. Rather see Diaz or Roberts get a part time role and leave the senior players we have to take more responsibility.

I refuse to believe that even PSG would throw almost £300m at TWO predominantly left sided forwards. Both would want and expect to play every game, along with the fact that there are other positions requiring more urgent attention. Madness if true.
