I'm relaxed now.

It's over mate.

We'll get SANCHEZ ON A FREE NEXT SUMMER.

And we've banked £60mill in the process.

I always said there was no point selling an irreplaceable player for 1/4 of the world transfer record. 55m is nothing in this market where Lukaku/Pogba is 100m and Coutinho is 130m and his club don't even accept the bid. We can flog useless players like Chamberlain and get nearly the amount you offered for Sanchez. Alexis can leave a few months shy of his 30th birthday and command a huge signing on fee and huge wages, we'll have got all of his peak years for comparitive small change. Whoever signs him probably gets him on a 4year deal, paying him huge wages when he's 32,33,34. He could age well but most don't.

Your club didn't want him that much to be offering 55m, you've paid as much for fullbacks, so he wasn't really a big priority. And maybe rightly so, you have a wealth of talented forward. IMO you should of gone all in for Fabinho.

As far as Arsenal are concerned we can make top4 with Alexis and we might not have done without. That's worth the 55m in itself.

As for the salty notion that he'll go on strike all year, well he's the type of player who wants to play every game so I doubt it. And if he does it might well hurt the deal he can negotiate. He should be asking for a 50m signing on fee if his agent is up to anything.

I think this was more about the principle than the thought of what Alexis could contribute next season. Wenger and the board had fought themselves in a corner and the way they've conducted themselves today was poor (even in the eyes of their own fans). The Arsenal I knew of old would not hang onto a top player going into the last year of his contract - not clinging on to the remote chance that he will perform for you this season - coupled with the fact that his own team mates want him gone. Then again the Arsenal of old wouldn't have top players (and their own players) choosing Liverpool over them.

eHallo Arsenal fans.

Your club agreed to sell Sanchez to City.

Your club failed to sign a replacement.

The only player you went for, at over £90mil, turned you down.

That's the only reason why the transfer never happened.

You will lose Sanchez on a free to us next season.

We will have an extra £60mill for our transfer budget next season.

You have a unhappy player at your club for the rest of the season.

You will lose Ozil on a free next season.

Wenger is still your Manager.

Remind me again, who should be feeling down atm? :-)
Well said my friend, a no more accurate description could have been written.

Actually Liverpool and United and Chelsea have as both City and Arsenal are potentially weaker than they might have been.

As in City with Sanchez and Arsenal with a happy Lemar.

Though I expect Pep to find a way to start battering teams with what we have.

And Arsenal to get Sanchez to sign a new deal within a month.
Not a chance. Sanchez is unlikely to throw away a £15m+ signing on fee.

Lol come off it. Even when he was playing at his deepest just ahead of the CBs he was 20 yards into the opposition half! He can definitely score plenty.

Sanchez scored 26 last year mostly because he spent 75% of the season playing as a striker. His other seasons playing as a wide man he regularly put up 15-20 which is reachable for our wide players.
He's even said himself this season he's going to be playing even deeper and that the goals and assists won't be on the same level.

Here's his interview after Bournemouth.

And translation to the key bit.

I haven't scored yet, but I'm playing as a defending midfielder. My role changed, but my games are good. I know what I bring to the team and what my role is. No one knows what I had to do. People think I play as an attacking midfielder, that's wrong. They see Kevin De Bruyne, attacking midfielder so he has to score and give assists. But they don't look beyond that.

In my opinion Sanchez was a key signing to increase our productivity. We're short elsewhere too. Getting DeBruyne closer to the opposition box would be best for us. That's for another thread though.
