'All Or Nothing' - discussion of documentary

Just binged all 8. Loved every second of it.

How the fuck didn’t we beat united.

The small margins between us and Liverpool in the 2 CL games were astonishing. They had every ounce of luck and we had none. We could play those games another 5 times and i think we’d win them all.

I think the biggest compliment I can give is for the first time in about 15 years I haven’t been down the pirate route.... only 2 in and it’s sensational, Pep is simply on a different planet and it puts perspective on why he won’t be doing it in his late 50s, A complete sociopath, my kind of guy!!

Loved the moment a kid asked Vinny what was Mandela's crime. I wondered how Vinny would frame his answer... and he nailed it. Got all emotional.

“What does that mean?” (Kompany’s brother-in-law pointing to his 99 treble shirt)

“It means you’re living in the past” (Kompany)

The overriding impression is that City did their homework when buying players like Danilo, Gundogan, Bernardo, Laporte,,(and even Bravo),all of whom seemed happy to wait patiently on the periphery, before eventually contributing to the team’s performance.

It also spoke volumes that despite so much social media activity amongst the players, the circumstances regarding Silva’s personal difficulties were kept private.

Silva’s final speech was a real tear jerker, and it was pleasing to see Yaya leaving on such a positive high note.

Apart from the obvious pain of certain defeats, the only uneasy moment surrounded Sterling’s miss at Burnley, and Guardiola’s subsequent whispered post mortem with his coaching staff.

There was also a strange flash of insecurity, just before the game at Everton, when Guardiola seemed preoccupied with Anfield, and the fear that Salah’s pace might expose our wing back,

However, this isn’t so much a niggle as surprise that City allowed it to be shown.

Oh, and why was John Stones dressed as a bunny rabbit?

I must admit to underestimating Artetas role, he clearly is far more important than I realised and the series is bringing this out.

I wonder if when the day comes when Pep eventually leaves us it will be Arteta who takes the reins?

Episode 7 brought back horrible horrible memories of a heartbreaking week. Highlighted the fucking bent refs which got me even more angry. At least I know it all ends well.

Heartbreaking to lose to utd but imo, we dont reach 100 points if we win that game. Let the rags have their one joyful moment of the season, ill take being the greatest premier league side that ever was.

Just on #7 now, love Pep having dig at the coppers for not protecting the bus.

Strange Pep never seemed bothered about any opposition during the season until Liverpool in the Champions league, and was too honest about that on camera.

Finished all 8. Absolutely loved it. It's definitely something i can see myself re-watching a few times in years to come as it's an incredible document of an amazing season.

I guess i've always thought that certain players who have taken longer than others to understand Pep's tactics must be a bit thick. I've a new found sympathy for them given how deranged and unintelligible a lot of Pep's whiteboard instructions are. I usually got the general gist of what he wanted, but some of those manic half-time ones were pretty hard to follow in any language.

As others have said, it's also a good reminder of how much bad luck and poor refereeing influenced our horrible week where we lost 3 on the bounce and how well we actually played for decent periods of all of those games.

Absolutely brilliant gutted I’ve finished all 8 episodes but then realised I can watch them all again as many times as I want Congratulations to Amazonn and the production team I can see them winning a few awards

The Liverpool games in particular. It sounds stupid when we lost 5-1 on aggregate to blame decisions, but if the legitimate away goal is given and the legitimate goal at the end of the first half, we go into halftime in the second game in the lead. Obviously you can never say that, because if we had an away goal, Liverpool might have played differently. But to get two wrongly disallowed goals in a knockout game against the same opponents is ridiculous.

No-one to blame but ourselves for the rag game though, even though we had at least one clear penalty. It was our own fault that we were in a position where we were relying on that for a draw.

Just started ep1.

I've seen all the NFL and NCAA versions of this docu-series and Amazon (or whoever) does absolutely amazing work. Ive said previously, I prefer All or Nothing over Hard Knocks.
