Amazed how many actual (alleged) journalists are quoting him saying he wants it to benefit the football pyramid. without questioning that at all. Anyone who knows anything about US sports knows what US owners think of sports and how highly they "regard" the lower leagues.
But this is what US owners do in US sports as well. They put forward something they want, then put in some attempt at justification about how it's all for the greater good. Coincidentally these "greater good" ideas always seem to be massively profitable for them and only them
A classic example, the MLB owners (including this guy) lobbyed the US government into giving them a special exemption (the "Save America's Pasttime" Act iirc), meaning they don't need to pay minor league baseball players minimum wage. (the pyramid they apparently care so much about) They also don't need to pay them during preseason as that's apparently a tryout and therefore not real work. The living conditions and food given to minor league players is poverty level, most of them have second jobs in the offseason as its the only way to survive. If that wasn't enough, last year they then "restructured" the minor leagues, scrapping hundreds of teams, to save a few more pennies for the billionaires.
