All Time Top 1100 Albums (Aerosmith - Big Ones) P265

To be fair, @surrounded by idiots hit the nail on the head with me.

Tried my best but I couldn't stick it out - I'm going to have to file this one away with the likes of Morrissey, either I am absolutely bang on the money and there is nothing there worth listening to or I just can't hear the talent and the rest of the world is right............. :-)
I may be biased, I have been into Talking Heads since being a teenager in the 80's and still listen to it now (though not as much) I think some of their stuff is genius, but the stuff that even to me isn't, is still never bland, boring and simple album filler tracks, they have produced some amazing tracks over the years that have influenced a lot of other bands, anyway I will stop trying to sound intelligent.

We all live in a YELLOW SUBMARINE.

Could never stand that song, pretty recently it has started to grow on me........;-)

I completely get that not everyone gets into this or any type of music at all. I’m sure @BlueHammer85 will randomly select some other albums in this thread that I’m not fond of.

However, I promise to save any hyper-charged flames I have in my system for any potential Radiohead record that shows up :)
You'll have to battle me at the front of the queue for the burning torches and pitchforks when Radiohead turn up!

Great contribution Blues, thanks for the scores and more than i anticipated.
so let's keep this going.

new album review tomorrow.
Once we have built up a bit of a database, are we tabling these givi them a Bluemoon ranking BH?

Not looking to add to your workload by the way mate...........

Try the live version of what I think is their very best song period, on Remain In Light or elsewhere -- from SMS . . . starting at 1:16 especially.

I'm just going to come out and say it. If someone were to watch this and not at least appreciate it, then it's surely gone over their head and the issue is with the listener rather than the artist.

They're doing very, very clever things there in terms of rhythm and how the timbres of the instruments use interact - something that you can only do with very accomplished, talented and creative musicians. This music is in a different ball park entirely to your Oasis pub rock.

There are reasons why this film is considered the benchmark for live music videos and this track is a highlight of it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think anyone has been particularly critiquing their ability (atleast that wasn't the exam question given to us by BH)?

Outside of the first minute or so intro on that video and the backing singers, it just doesn't do it for me.

The beauty for me is that you don't have to be able to play like Hendrix to make good music (whilst it certainly can be elevate it).

Conversely, very very good instrument players don't necessarily make good music such as Slash (a name that springs to mind in my opinion).

I've just put the first few tracks on again of Remain in the light, doesn't do it for me at all.

I don't think we are going to find common ground on this album mate (to be fair I suppose that's the point of the thread, for @BlueHammer85 to pit is all against each other).......... ;-)

I found a list of Colin Larkin's top 1000 albums somewhere online. I was heartened to see that in among the usual top 20 that always appear on these kind of lists, some of my favourite albums are lurking in there, plus some others that I own and enjoy.

However, my two favourite albums of all time aren't in there and it's a crying shame. I could wax lyrical about these from now until times end, I can't understand why anybody who hears them doesn't appreciate their greatness and yet they ain't in the Top 1000!!! One of the artists was even one of the top sellers of the 80s (in the US, at least). So if you are complaining about a couple of people who don't like a 1980s Talking Heads album, just be thankful it's in the list.

Anyway, the point is that we all like different things and it's good to read different opinions. Looking forward to the next entry ......
