Alvarez done deal - £82m to Atletico

Its not £81 mill until we know what adds on are. La liga win? Unlikely. CL win? Unlikely. Balon D,or? Unlikely

Don't know if anyone agrees I would go and get Toney from Brentford if Alvarez moves on, spoke to an ex Bees player at Euro's and he reckons utd will get him. Me personally I think he's great unless he signs for them obviously.
I can't see Toney being happy as back-up to Haaland, and that's all he would be.

Will be disappointed that he is leaving - but not surprised really. Lets be honest, with his backgorund it is always a desirable move to go to Spainish league for him.

We didnt get to see him at his peak - i think he will go on to become a very good player over the next years.

Has all the ingredients to be as successful as Tevez was in Europe.....If he keeps the work ethic. But akin to Tevez, i dont see him being at one club for too long either.

We will get a decent profit out of him and i wish him well

I would be surprised if some of it isn't related to a set number of appearances. But in general I agree with you, although I would not rule out a la liga win. I don't think Champions League or Ballon D'OR are realistic and would be surprised if City included an add on for Ballon D’OR which seems to be a bit of a lottery

I'm fuming.

While it looks on paper like a good fee
What are the add ons?
Who can we buy for 64 mill that is at least as good?
Will we buy anyone?
Will we go into another season with big holes- one striker and one dm.

Playing bobb up front is just like playing alvarez midfield.

The fact he has some average games were in midfield. I think playing him centre forward for a run of games, he would be class. I knoe we have haaland but when it was mentioned last season (yes I'll get stick) but Alvarez is the longer term better player. All round player. If haaland doesn't score he offers fuxk all. Where does the pressure for him to keep his form come from now?

Fuming! Don't let it get to you too much mate.

Trust in Pep. We've seen him solve the false 9 issue by turning Gundogan into a striker when he'd never played there before. We've seen him win the CL playing 4 Centre Backs in a back 4.

As long as Guardiola has the right tools at his disposal we will always be competitive.

His goalscoring ability will be a loss no doubt and we will have to replace that somewhere in the squad or externally if we go into the market.

But ultimately it sounds like he wanted to go and were not the type of club to stand in a players way. A potential £82m is a great deal for ultimately a back up striker.
It's not like we'll be playing with 10 men, someone will step in and he'll just be another footnote.

I'd forgotten that we've already got Savio as well as Bobb and McAtee as options, so there you go.

Sad to see him go he stepped up when he was needed and got goals. The replacement who can we get who will be happy to play but part or is there a striker in the youths that could make the step up.
