Nota Bene..Mancini is the only manager Abu Dhabi have hired, Hughes was inherited.

Your right and our owners have such class they trusted him with 200m no other owners would of done that! All that bullshit we got for sacking him was a disgrace!

Just to bring you up to speed on why this happened.

1. Ray Wilkins wanted more than the board thought he deserved from his contract. In short he got greedy and left.

2. Ancelotti's father died in Italy this year which no doubt upset him. That happened around the time Chelsea's form started to decline. I suspect he felt guilty that he was in England when this happened.

3. This was Chelsea's least successful season since Abramovich's take over.

4. The same out of form players were selected over better performing youth and bench warmers.

5. He never stuck with a playing style or formation which lead to very erratic performances.

I really like Ancelotti. You'll never meet a nicer man and he's a decent manager to boot. But at the height of professional football you can't have a season that bad and keep your job. Its just a fact of the business (unless you're Ferguson or Wenger).
To be fair IF Ancelotti was responsible for the continual selection of Torres above Drogba then he deserves to be sacked because that cost Chelsea points.

There is no doubt that Chelsea underperformed this season, but up until now I assumed it was the club who identified Torres and Luiz, and Abramovic who was insisting that Torres play each week. IF the decision belonged to Ancelotti then he deserves to go.

It's hard to know what was really going on. I am not sure if it will come out as there will probably be confidentiality agreements in place.

One thing it does suggest is that Chelsea intend to be a top player and aren't going to slip away quietly. I had thought that maybe Abramovic would just sit on his chq book, but after the January spending that looked unlikely, and this move just confirms it.

As an outsider it's impossible to know whether this is the right move for Chelsea. On the face of it Ancelotti is a very good manager, but they have been mis-managed this season. is that down to Ancelotti or Abramovic? Who made those key player decisions? Certainly Ancelotti did not fire Wilkins

Yes this is exactly what I was trying to convey. Contrary to popular belief, Abramovich doesn't dictate to the managers what happens at the club (in terms of what happens on the pitch). Take Shevchenko, our biggest flop, Mourinho said publicly that his first choice couldn't be secured - so Roman suggested Sheva (being an admirer) and Mourinho agreed to try him and he just couldn't hack the Premier League.

Torres was exactly the same. The fact that Roman was an admirer of Torres is just coincidence but he was Ancelotti's first choice striker (to replace Drogba) and it was Ancelotti's decision to play him. In the press conference at the end of the season Ancelotti admitted that was a mistake. Forcing Torres into a system designed for Drogba was a monumentally bad idea - especially in a Champions League knockout against Man United.

Wow

Van Basten as manager, Hiddink as director.

What a nightmare for Chelsea fans. Sack a PL and CL proven manager for someone who hasn't won a thing as manager.

Without getting into a big debate about it, let me just leave you with this:

Torres was a target for Chelsea before Ancelotti even arrived at the club, that should tell it's own story....................

It was popular belief that Sheva was a Roman buy and was foisted on Mourinho.

I've been bamboozled by Chelsea's insistence on playing Torres ahead of Drogba/Anelka for the last 3 months. It was a crazy decision whoever was responsible for it. I just assumed it was Abramovic, but if it was Ancelotti's call then he deserves to be sacked. I don't know if Chelsea would have won the title and got to the Champions League Final with Drogba and Anelka up front, but I am sure they would have been closer. Those two are the best forward line in the Premiership, and Torres has made next to no contribution this season. Maybe he will come good next season

-- Sun May 22, 2011 9:58 pm --

OK, but Torres at one time was a top player, and we were linked in the Summer. He was maybe the best forward in the world at one point.

I'd love to know what has gone wrong, if anyone knows
