Andy Rourke RIP

Someone pointed him out in Loaded at Planet K one night. It was before the days of camera phones so I didn’t approach him.

I've not met anyone who was there at the Ritz so nice one!
Was that your only Smiths gig?
Crazy thing is that is the only Smiths gig Andy wasn't on bass as Dale Hibbert played in the band then.
Andy joined a few weeks later and played from the 2nd gig onwards
There was about 15 people there when the Smiths played. I was with 4 mates from Cheadle - they were jazzers, I was the punk/new wave kid. We made up a third of the crowd before it filled up for Blue Rondo (who were good)

The only things I really remember about the gig were:

1. Johnny Marr (who looked about 12 years old) accidentally whacked his guitar on the wall while they were making their way to the stage from the back of the room

2. They had a dancer who thought he was great but was actually shite

3. We didn't think much of The Smiths

What idiots we were. 3 months later we loved The Smiths.

I went to loads of Smiths gigs, including their last gig at Brixton

The dancer was James Maker who was a friend of Morrissey’s.
