Is it worth the fuss? If someone invented some new gesture aimed at offending me, it simply wouldn't work; I just wouldn't take offence or be bothered in any way.
Liverpool's sponsors Standard Chartered allegedly threatened to withdraw over the Suarez/Evra incident when the club were being fuckwits. They felt the club's pugnacious stance was damaging their brand.

Exactly. You sponsor a club to help promote your brand - it's hardly a new thing for sponsors to distance themselves from sporting stars or clubs who create controversy. Sponsors have withdrawn over far less - it brings their name into disrepute and you would be surprised if they weren't concerned over something like this.

No way Zoopla deserves respect of any kind, he wants out of the sponsorship deal and has found a disgusting way to do it. Don't here him commenting on yet another 1200 illegal homes being built in east Jerusalem, to be filled by orthodox bigots from around the world. The owners a merchant banker.

What a sensible, constructive post. Well thought out, full of substance - the world would be a better place if there were more people like you. You compare so incredibly favourably to the chap from Zoopla - you come across as neither a bigot or a 'banker'. Ignorance is the root of many of the evils in this world but with such well informed individuals as you, who aren't at all confusing Jews with Israel, perhaps you could enlighten us with more words of wisdom to help achieve peace across the world

Meanwhile in there real world, according to the article, the Zoopla sponsorship agreement runs out at the end of the season anyway. Both the FA and the club patently haven't got a clue what to do so are sitting on their hands, arguably making the situation worse. Zoopla, surprise surprise, are a little upset that their name is on a photo that's being shown
around the world, adorning the chest of someone making a controversial anti semtic gesture and have every right to complain that the employer is appearing to do nothing, including not condemning the gesture.

If the FA or the club had done something, anything, to look like they were taking the matter more seriously Zoopla wouldn't have needed to act. As it is, they are sticking their head above the parapet in a way those who should be doing are not. Seems a reasonable stance to me
Oh dear, with every sentence, you actually confirmed level of ignorance and bigotry.
The owner Chesterman, describes himself, firstly not by nationality, but by his faith and Zoopla as a Jewish company. How many Christian, Muslim, Hindu and other Jewish followers feel the need to describe themselves thus. He is a merchant banker, he has a selective view on what ills the world, he has no comment to make on the actions of the settlement builders, going against a long standing UN mandate, the very same UN that ratified the state of Israel. If you have oppression, some people will say something. If you speak French, or have a spouse, or friend who does, youd have and inkling of why Patrice Cohen is so hated in France.
I've sorted out your inability to use quotes by the way.

You really are quite bigoted aren't you? Chesterman didn't describe himself as anything as far as I can see (the media did) but he happens to be Jewish and is also extremely unhappy that the company he owns is linked with an alleged anti-Semitic gesture. Regardless of his religion, any company who feel their brand has been damaged in some would be well within their rights to take action. If someone at City did something that was widely perceived as anti-Islam, I think our owners would have something to say.

And whether Cohen is hated or not I don't know but surely even a numbskull like you can see that being Jewish isn't a valid reason. Or then again, maybe not.

Personally I think this should have been sorted out quickly and quietly, with an apology and agreement not to do this again, plus a substantial donation to Jewish charities. I don't see any need to make a martyr of Anelka over this.

Why do so many folk just hate Jews? Down the centuries they do seem to have got the shitty end of the stick. I couldn't really give a fuck because all religion is bollocks to me. Worked with a lad for two years, sometimes right next worktop, before I realised he was Jewish. Never came up in conversation.

As for Anelka we've known he's a bit of a prick for ages.

Errr no, you've just proven the point. I have no idea if Chesterman describes himself by his nationality (British) or his faith (jewish) but neither identity is Israeli. Yet in your next point, you talk solely about Israel. He doesn't describe himself as Israeli according to you (because he isn't). So as I said in my previous post (somewhat sarcastically) you are confusing Israel with Judaism and it's a dangerous rhetoric - the youtube videos of people perfuming this 'salute' are in front of sites related to Judaism, not Israel.

As it happens Zoopla haven't commented as far as I can tell, on the press reports. But they do a lot for charity - their principal activities being to raise money for Shelter, the English homeless charity. They also donate to the Albion community charity despite it not being part of their contractual sponsorship agreement. This doesn't to me sound like the type of company who would have any reason to comment on Israeli foreign policy but they have every reason to not want to have their shirts associated

So Anelka's sign of support is a bigger cause of unrest than illegal occupation of land and illegal settlements built on them?

It's fuck all to do with the Middle East so stop peddling that line. It's everything to do with how a company owner sees his company's reputation and the muddled, inadequate response to the incident. That why it should have been sorted out quickly and decisively between the club, Anelka and the sponsor, as I suggested above. It would all have been forgotten about by now if it had.

Voomer's apparent inability to use the quote function properly and his propensity for randomly repeating the same posts makes this discussion quite hard to follow. In spite of this I've come to the conclusion that Voomer's talking out of his arse.
