PSG beat Man Utd to strike £60m deal for Real Madrid star Angel Di Maria

MANCHESTER UNITED'S hopes of signing Real Madrid star Angel Di Maria are over after the Argentina international agreed an eye-watering £60million deal to join French champions Paris St-Germain.

The versatile attacker had been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu this summer after Carlo Ancelotti splashed the cash on Colombia's World Cup star James Rodriguez as well as Bayern Munich playmaker Toni Kroos, with former Holland boss Louis Van Gaal desperate to bring the former Benfica man to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have already completed big-money moves for Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera, and Van Gaal was confident he could lure Di Maria to England after missing out on numerous targets including Juventus star Arturo Vidal and Bayern's Bastian Schweinsteiger

However, Spanish outlet Marca claims that Di Maria is set to link up with PSG after agreeing terms on a lucrative deal, and that Madrid have already sanctioned the move as they prepare to challenge Atletico Madrid for their La Liga crown.

PSG have already paid over £40million for the services of David Luiz from Chelsea this summer, and are ready to listen to offers for a number of players including Edinson Cavani, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Javier Pastore as they look to comply with FIFA's Financial Fair Play regulations.

or they are showing middle finger to platini. But Di Maria signing means they will offload Lavezzi regardless of FFP.

It'll be interesting to see if everyone starts low-balling the offers to PSG, for their players. See if they panic. It's a weird one as they seem to be taking the opposite stance to us.

I for one hope United pay £45m for a player they really don't need. He would demand a start, as does RVP, Rooney & Mata. They've just bought Herrera, more attacking then defensive. Then don't forget, 'the United way'. They simply must give Janujaz plenty of game time.

If they sign Di Maria, he'll create more problems than he solves.

I think he'd be a bit of a tosser in the Prem. He goes to ground very easy.

He brings great pace, but pace is everywhere in the Prem.
Express reporting he has agreed to sign for PSG for £60m, how do they get away with it-FFP my arse!

Maybe Cavani is going for big money to balance the books ...

All they're doing is taking him "on loan" this year and buying him next season. So they're basically just postponing the fee until next year when there is no restriction.

Making a mockery of UEFA's stupid rules.

Thanks mate......Kinda wish City would take the same approach and tell them where they can stick their FFP restrictions.....I do think its clever to loan Lampard to us tho.....think that was an excellent way round the rules.....

It's unsettling that PSG have pulled out because the idiots spent their entire budget on Luiz. The only other party in the running for him were United and the PA is now saying they could sign him.
