Got another assist last night for Lampard to score, considering this is his first season he's got 4 assists in 13 appearances (10 starts). Very decent for a fullback. Watching last night his tackling while not great is improving, and at his age he's got all the time in the world to improve.

Nice.

Think he could be our backup LB next season?

Not on the strength of any performances I've seen so far for NYC, not by a long way. But he was nowhere near EDS level when he first moved up from the 18s, then ended up the season as a bit of a star, so you never know. Defending has always been his weakest link, but NYC recently moved him further forward & he was immediately a main threat.

Can't tell from that video, which position he is playing, but it looks like he's running from left back.

He is a really talented footballer, but his defending will have to improve 150% to reach the required level. Would have been better than Kolarov last weekend though.

I have been trying to keep an eye on him (and Facey). His debut was LB and he had a great game. He’s been mostly LB with a few run outs further forward, was LB again at the weekend.
He looks great going forward, more like a typical old school winger, fast with loads of running and has a decent cross on him. However, he is small and doesn’t have much presence defensively. He can tackle well enough and his pace can get him out of trouble but you do wonder how he would cope against a big powerful winger like a Victor Moses or Bolasie.

Facey has done well but does not stand out in what is a fairly average side although to his credit he is young and learning his trade. I think he will have a career in the MLS as a minimum. Given the numbers of youth players who fail to make it at any pro club I think that is a plus for our academy system. He must be happy as how many players can say they played in the same team every week as Pirlo, Vila and Lampard!

I wish Pirlo had played for City, watching him and Silva in the same side would have been like watching two angels. Such natural ability, he wasn't under much pressure but to play such a perfectly weighted through ball as he did... my god! Angelino made a good run but there aren't many players out there that could have picked his run out to such perfection!

I could easily see him replacing Kolarov as the leftback who can cross the ball but is a liability defensively. We could easily have him as our second LB if we had a reliable, out and out first choice LB ahead of him. The thing is, unlike Kolarov, Angelino will get better defensively, he also still has a lot of physical developing to do as he's still incredibly young. Even as he is at the moment I'd probably rather have him than Kolarov, as I think his attacking game is more varied and I'd probably find his defensive problems a lot more forgiveable than Kolarov just not trying.

He's not a good defender, but he's probably still way ahead of the curve for a fullback, as most players who end up becoming attacking fullbacks are still wingers at his age. He looks like a hard worker and he's not an idiot, so you'd expect him to get a lot better defensively as he gets used to first team football. I think he'd also benefit a lot from playing in a better side, as a side that gives it away as badly as NYC isn't a great place for a wingback.

Disappointing end to a promising first season in pro football... He went straight into the NYCFC starting XI when he arrived there - due as much to their defensive inability as much as his ability - but he has ended the season sitting on the bench and I think he'll be glad to get back to Manchester and start getting some minutes under his belt. If Clichy is out for much longer he might even get a go at our first team, although I think that's unlikely.

Hard to tell whether he's progressed in NYC, but it will have provided invaluable experience playing with Lampard, Villa and Pirlo. Interesting to see what next for him, another loan or first team fringes?

Trained with the first team yesterday. Will he be in the squad today? I'm thinking there's a very good chance. Regardless of his progress, or lack of, at NYC he's been blooded in senior football so he's at least good enough as a backup for Kolarov. Means we won't have to play someone out of position as cover.

If Kolarov gets injured before Clichy is fit Manuel will probably switch Sagna and play Otamendi instead of Zabba at RB. He could also play Mangala at LB. Only if those options aren't available would Angelino start, but he may get some gametime off the bench in suitable situations.
