Do you see him as a better player than Clichy a year or two from now?
Why Clichy and not Kolarov?
I personally think that he could be better than both if he can improve defensively but from what I've heard Sarmiento from the under 18's looks just as promising.
For the record i prefer Clichy to Kolarov when both fully fit and on Form.

I rate Kolarov above Clichy so that's why I chose Clichy but that's irrelevant really in the discussion.
So if he would be classed as homegrown then 7M € seems very cheap

Thanks for letting me know about how highly Sarmiento is rates, I went to the Academy game v Leeds and must admit was very impressed but not seen enough of him. Wish I could devote more time to watching the EDS and Academy

You won't have seen much of him he has only been here a few months and only played a few games

I assume Angelino would be classed as home grown?

I just think if he was given a few chances in the first team then we could gauge how good he is and it would also add value to the player.
Why do we think Barcelona are interested, would he be understudy to Alba?

Yes Angelino will be home grown and I agree we should give him a chance as he has for the last couple of seasons been one of the stars.
I saw the link on city watch Twitter which I think was from Mundo.

Sarmiento will also be home grown by the time he turns 21 if he is still here too.

Sarmiento's definitely not a reason to get rid of Angelino as i don't think he's shown he's a better prospect, just a similar one. I don't think Angelino will go anywhere personally. If Pep's coming then he'll hang around.

Although he looks very promising if we can get a good few for him then we have Sarmiento who looks just as good if not better.
Barca have just let there under 21 captain Alex Grimaldo go to Benfica for a very low fee as he was nearing the end of his contract, Why let Grimaldo go to replace him with Angelino who is suspect defensively.
Or of course we keep both since Clichy and Kolorav both turn 31 this year. Sarmiento is only 17 and Angelino only just turned 19.

So it sounds to me we should be doing our upmost to keep Angelino.

Any idea how long Kolarov is injured for?

Can we assume Angelino will go to the bench as cover for Clichy.
The question is would Pellegrini rather move Zabalaeta to left back than bring on Angelino if Clichy got an injury during the match?

I assume he would get a chance to start if draw Wycome in the FA cup

Borthwick-Jackson is playing every game for United now and is he any better than Angelino? Definitely not from what I've seen of the two players.

I understand Angelino didn't have a great loan spell at NYC, but loan spells (especially abroad) aren't always a good judge of talent. Angelino looked super talented in our youth team and I hope the manager wouldn't have any hesitations about giving him an opportunity with Kolarov's injury.

Angelino looks perfect for Guardiola's style, so are Denayer, Iheanacho and Roberts. Our youth system has some real talent in it, we just need a manager more willing to give young players an opportunity.

His loan spell was a success,he got regular playing time and has seemingly come back a more developed player, why do you think otherwise?

Does he track back?

Last I checked he only bombed forward and forgot to come back and defend. Like to like replacement for Kola ?

When I saw him on loan he was perfectly happy to run towards his own goal. Got up and down very nicely, but the defending was a bit suspect when he got there.

I understand he tired towards the end of the loan, but he's not lazy and he's got enough speed to track back.

Yeah, I also felt the same. But his deliveries into the box are delicious. Hopefully, with age his defending improves.

His defensive qualities are not his best but I have never seen him lacking effort and energy. watching Barca last night with Alba up and down the wing (mostly attacking) I was thinking Angelino could easily play in that team. Probably why Barca are romoured to be interested in him.

In an attacking sense he is excellent, very positive, great crosser of the ball and also scores some goals. Got a hat trick in one game last season ( not all as a full back as I recall) and scored again today away at Spurs for the EDS. The question is the way city play are we prepared to have a full back like this? Maybe not although nobody can tell me Kolarov is a top defensive full back.
