Angelino

While i do think transfermstket values are utter mince, i rate thd lad and think he is easily a 30m+ player. Certainly, if it was us looking to buy him, we'd be getting quoted that and more.

I have also often said the same for zinchenko, if he played for Leicester or someone else, and we were interested.

Doesn't change the fact that the fee for Angelino is fixed now as part of the agreed loan deal, he wasn't the same value last summer. City maybe could have pushed towards the mid 20m then, but the kid (who IS one of our academy and has loyally gone in and out of the club when needed) wanted to go there having experienced it, they wanted him, and i don't begrudge the club for enabling that if they saw value in it, for the sake of a few million. Maybe there was enough in it for us, guaranteed money in this year, ensuring he doesnt end up at a rival, allowing an option of him still coming back at some point in the future, etc etc.

They are getting him for a bargain, no doubt, now that he has proved himself. They are also getting the reward for taking that risk. We are getting decent money back on a low investment, at a good time, and a happy player treated well. He gets to play at a team he wants to be at and was well treated by the club he signed for, twice.

Everyone wins. All the best to the lad.

I’m also of the opinion that we have undersold here and have been critical of our outgoings over the past window, but another positive that we can take from this Angelino situation is the good will we’ve likely bought from Leipzig (and the wider RB function as a result).

Leipzig are going to be a talent factory - having a good relationship with them means that we have positioned ourselves well for the future when they inevitably have a player that we want.

That's a fair point on the issue, I could see this as building good relations with Leipzig, hopefully we get more out of it in the future.
