well thats my point....we arent a great attacking force yet we have been better (under MH) in that sense but like i said he got the balance wrong.....mancini has also got the balance wrong

AS for the clear instructions to sit and hold......i think they are...mancini has said he wants no more than 10 yds between defence and midfield when defending.....therefore when we do win the ball and play it upto the strikers there is no way the midfielders can get up and support.......and its certainly not in dejongs game to do so nor is it in zabba's game. so by picking those playes in conjuntion with each other it is clear that this (as you say) is the way mancini wants to play.....

my poiont is that playing the way mancini wants to play will ultimately lead to failing to get where we want to

ireland is short of confidence as you say....but he aint going to get it back sitting on the bench

i also agree with the mouhrinho point.....im not a huge fan of his way of playing either

i think that we agree on the main points here but I do think mancini is deliberately setting his team out to play in a fashion which means it underperforms in the sense that we are capable of so much more with just the players we have...but they arent allowed to express themselves with the instructions he gives and how he wants them to play.

I will fully admit i really dont like his style of play so i guess that is just down to personnel opinion. If he goes to fulham and plays the same way teh result will be the same (if not worse) and he will have really damaged our hopes of getting top 4

I'm with you all the way mate.

I've got a choice of trusting someone who has won the Italian League three times or to go with your tactical genius... and my vote is for you.

You make so much more sense than Mancini.

lol

i certainly dont profess to know anywhere near that much and you have to give credit to mancini for sorting out the defensive sside of our game...we look so much more solid

I just think we maybe missing our chance this season with liverpool looking out of sorts the 4th spot is wide open

I think it will be villa or spurs that take that 4th spot.....

if we could get it it would propel us automatically to the next level enabling us to attract an even higher standard of player.....money is not the be all and end all even with the amount we have there are certain players that wont come if we dont have chumps league football.

But are you suggesting Mancini doesn't know this?

That he's not trying his fucking hardest to get 4th. spot?

That you think he's not trying hard enough to be positive?

Don't make me end up hating you...;}

Im sre he is trying his hardest to get 4th

Im sure he is even more aware of every point I hav made.......he would disagree i guess on them (about the styke of play etc)

lets just see if he gets us 4th...Ill go on record now and say he wont get it

....the way utd attack and the amount of chances they create is by far superior to the way we are doing it at present....

Often when I watch United I'm not impressed by their players as individuals, usually Rooney apart. I've seen plenty of games where 8 or 9 of their players have had very average games, yet they've still won comfortably.

They win games when individual players are not playing that well because they have a well honed playing system. They keep the ball, pass it around and build pressure. They've built their system over many years. Their players fully understand their role in the team.

We dont have that yet. We wont until we have a reasonably settled team and a settled playing system. we wont get that if we kep having a large turnover of players.

oh dear, you watch them every week and you ve only just clocked how bad they are, been saying for ages now about half a dozen will be moved on

I think that this is a touch harsh. We have removed a lot of the players who would only creep into an EPL team who were destined for the trap door at the end of the season. We have a rump of players who would keep you in the EPL but would not get you consistently into the NewTopFour, and challenge for a semi place in the CL. But bad? Yer a tough taskmaster!

...and the owners only have themselves to blame! It seems clear to me that Hughes bought this team to play in HIS style i.e. fast, one touch counter attacking, now Mancini has the team he wants them to play his style which relys heavinly on actually being pass and keep possession.

However, it's quite obvious that a lot of the players in our team, especially the midfield, are not capable of doing this! Which means the owners will have to throw a lot more money at it in the summer to get Mancini's squad in!

This is the problem with sacking a manager every 5 minutes, it just delays progress! I wouldn't blame Mancini at all if we didn't get top 4 this year, after seeing our players actually try to play a bit of proper football in recent months i've only just realised how bad a lot them are!

....and to all the Mourinho bum boys who do you think assembled the Inter team? Yes, it was our very own Roberto Mancini! He got Cambiasso on a FREE and the likes of Maicon and Walter Samuel as well as a lot more!

You are right in saying there will be player movement, and I believe there will be a clearout if Mancini stays or if Mourinho comes in, but Hughes is far from blameless in this.

Hughes bought De Jong, who is a holding midfielder and nothing else, he bought Barry and it looked to all intents and purposes he was going to play 433 with De Jong, Barry and Ireland in the middle. This looked good to me and many others.

The problem was he then went to 442 and we simply haven't got the central midfielders for that formation. Anyway, that's been discussed countless times before, but my last line on the matter is that Hughes did not buy sensibly for the style he ultimately ended up playing this season. He paid for that in the end.

In regard to your post, I've also come to the conclusion our midfielders aren't good enough but I wouldn't say that was a reason for Hughes staying. If he's bought poorly in midfield how can it be?

It's interesting that when Mark Bowen made his recent appearance on BBC radio he said that they thought that the midfield was the strongest part of the squad.

Another big clearout is the last thing we need. The players need stability, all top teams add to already quality squads. We need to add some quality in certain positions as has already been said on here.
If we are in the chimps league we need 5 or 6 players otherwise 2 or 3 with fringe players moving on. None of the current first team should go(well maybe Toure), we just need to add quality to an already good squad.

I'm not sure if I used the word quality enough there.

I think that speaks volumes.
