Another blue gone too soon | RIP Barry James

It was an honour to say goodbye to a truly beautiful person, a class act in every way.

Glad it went well. Did everybody get into the chapel? I read there was a mix up and as a result were allocated the smaller one.

No mate, didn’t hear about a mix up but it was tiny, fortunately there were speakers outside and I was tall enough to see over the heads inside.
I don’t think seeing anything inside made a big difference anyway, most people were happy just to listen and laugh at some of the stories, head bowed, reflecting and remembering, was good to fill in a few blanks as well, never realised he had so many older brothers and sisters, I only really remember Dougie and Gwen (who set the Alsation on me).

He was such a talent but more importantly a special human being. He had such a beautiful aura about him that you only had to meet him once to remember him forever.
I think Gwen has passed too.

@Keepingthefaithsince1976 sadly I couldn't make the funeral but I saw some pictures shared here. There was a live link but I couldn't get it to work. Here are the pictures.

Thanks so much for all your efforts and comments. I'm sad I couldn't get there but logistically I couldn't make it work. He was definitely someone who brightened every room he entered. A true blue who loved the club and was there through the dark days. I'm delighted he got to see City winning the last decade or so. His memory will live on and his music, songs and smile will brighten my day whenever I remember him. RIP Barry and love to all your family.

His smile was what I remember the most. In fact I never saw him without a smile. Even the video of him in the hospice where he's playing his guitar and singing for family and friends days from the end he's smiling. He deserved many more years and the world isn't as bright that he was denied them.

Music was my first love
And it will be my last
Music of the future
And music of the past

That passage, as short as it is, summed Barry up perfectly for me mate, even when he was a child, if his name was mentioned, you just automatically thought ‘Guitar and music too’.
I remember speaking to him at a Forum gig after a show around 87 (mildly amusing how that came about) and he was telling me about his ‘venture’ into the horticultural world, how much he hated it, and that it was a big ‘fuck off, I’m going to do what I love most from now on’ moment, his life still feels short, but it brings me happiness knowing he lived all his life doing what he loved, I don’t think you could ask for much more.

So sad to hear of the passing of another iblue and top musician.RIP Barry.
Five years today since we lost our beloved niece Emily aged 21 a south stand season ticket holder with her dad and brother a .fanatical blue. Much loved and missed by blues on the Fylde and all her knew her. RIP Em we think of you every time City win always in our hearts.
Sorry to intrude on Barry's page but needed to leave a tribute and didn't know where else to write it.
