It sounds like they want to politicise the civil service, as in America. That often is OK in the White House, but under Trump it's not replacing people who know how to run things with ideologues and loyalists who don't, or with permanent secretaries who are (cue Thatcher) "one of us". As they have divided society, they will divide the civil service. And I'm now sure it's deliberate - it's the colonial "divide and rule" policy applied to the UK, and to England within it. Healing and consensus is not what he wants (Johnson or Cummings, take your pick).As I said earlier, it will be the fault of the 'remainer' civil service. It's never their fault.
