but Remainers are, and always will be, the winners of the arguments.

What is this obsession some of you have with taking back 'control' and aversion to foreigners? We are only leaving the political construct of the EU, not leaving Europe or declaring war on our European friends.

‘Taking back control’ was the main message of the Leave Campaign. The poster was pointing out that we will have less control than before.

By definition if you leave a political construct you lose the ability to influence the agenda and direction of the construct and consequently have no control. This then mandates the Govt to also leave the economic and cultural constructs of the EU because it has no political control or voice. In reality this is difficult because of the constraints of geography and the economic size of the EU as evidenced by the WA in which we ceded sole economic control of NI and allowed a degree of EU competence over the rest of the UK where it intersects with NI.

Which may help explain why we obsess and fret over ‘Brexit bongs’ as it is something we can control and yet still can’t make happen :)

Of all the stupid arguments on brexit people fighting for Big Ben to bong on the 31 is perhaps the most stupid

seriously who actually gives a flying fuck.

It's an odd one. As you say, barely anyone gives a shit, and if they raise the £500k, they'd get pilloried for the infinite amount of more worthy causes that could've gone to.

I say that, I doubt our media would give that much of a shit.

Boris is not the clown he has pretended to be. Shrewdly, he has told those communities he will support them, nuture them and invest in them. Well, he better had or vengence will be great. And he will, because he wants the votes.

Northern Ireland says Hi!

The Brexit bongs are symbolically important. Plus it gives an opportunity for some ‘remainer’ bashing. Brexit thrives on grievance and victimhood. Whining about Remainers/EU/Scots/Irish etc is going to be a major theme in the media for the next few years.

In addition there will be a great deal of gloating and crowing from the leavers. Basically they seem to be a cross between a particularly chippy shouldered Red Scouse and a Devon Rag from a few years ago when United were still relevant.

And nobody likes a knicker wetting whiner eh:-)
