Another new Brexit thread

Does it matter - pandemic or not the jobs are going now so anything post No Deal can be apportioned accordingly depending on the reasons the sacking employer gives - Leavers own it all.
I, along I'm sure with lots of other people, will fully and unequivocally accept your "leavers own it all" comment re future job losses after a no deal provided YOU and all remainers fully and unequivocally accept any and all job losses from the date we joined the EEC/EU to present.
Or, if you prefer, if you can fully and unequivocally guarantee that remaining in the EU from this day forward can and will ensure that not one single person in the nation will ever again lose their job then I will, from this day forward, actively and passionately campaign for remain.
I mean, if job losses after leaving are solely as a result of leaving them surely job losses whilst a member are solely the result of being a member?
If you cannot do either of those things then perhaps you might accept that job losses happen for a variety of reasons and whether leave or remain, job losses are sadly a fact of modern day life and if we leave with no deal - some people will suffer job losses, if we remain - some people will suffer job losses.

MiIllions of people in this country were thrown out of work in , amongst other industries, manufacturing, during the 80's as a result of govt policies. This happened whilst we were a member of the EU. Was this the EU's fault?

The Thatcher govt was instrumental in setting up, campaigning for, and launching us into the single market. The single market was, is, and forever will be a creation of thatcherism. It has done its job fantastically well. Destroyed collective bargaining, destroyed wages, made millions dependant on the whims of their company executives. Exactly as it was created to do.

Wanting out of this, in the doublespeak of today, makes me a right wing Tory apparently.

I've said before and I'll say again. The EU is a construct for rabid Thatcherites who don't want people to know they are rabid Thatcherites.

I would have thought the papers published by the UK outlying the special status deal they want is a bit more than ‘stuff’.
Nah - this is just stuff in the scheme of things

Those days when there was a plethora of stories that could be posted to demonstrate the extent to which Grieve, Soubry and others were shafting the UK’s negotiations or Remainers could exult about the latest examples of Barnier's brilliance must seem soooo long ago

Nowadays - this news is a comfort to Remainers

Interesting how things can work out

What was published was at the end of various rounds of negotiation. Not the initial proposition. But hey everyone can have their own opinion on that.
The bottom line is the UK and EU remain sovereign even though the EU seem to be insisting this is not the case.

The UK have tabled their proposal for a future relationship/trade deal with very ambitions asks on Services and security. Even the tariff proposal goes way beyond Canada. This is what Barnier/EU and member states are reacting too.

Here is the Govt link with the updated trade proposals published on 19th May for public consumption.

Excellent!!!!

What a relief!!!

Interesting how things turn out. People claim Johnson was stupid placing into legislation that there will be no extension beyond December - it turns out to be a masterstroke - afterall it is all the Remainers running around bleating whilst Johnson and those committed to Brexit cam observe the clock

Everyone states that Barnier had pulled a masterstroke by having the negotiating mandate 'hard-wired' into EU27 sign-off - and now he is finding himself boxed in and not able to effectively act in the role of 'chief negotiator' because of the cumbersome governance arrangements.

I would bet Barnier will be in communication about the negotiating mandate up his chain before Johnson is bringing forward legislation to the house

Funny old world, - I am minded to observe:

"We will not see movement from the EU...…."

;-)

I have no idea what you are talking about in reference to a post on *checks notes* a fisheries deal.
