are there any mines or steel works left? Its looking like they are going to have to support car assembly in the event of WTO tariffs - can we not just restart Austin-Rover and beat the world? Who fancies a Metro or a Montego? An Ital anyone.......
Haha, quite. I was actually trying to think of a current British manufacturing/heavy industry and gave up!

As I, and others said 4 years ago, reciprocal agreements were in place before we joined this so called trading club. Why do you think they’ll be rescinded?
It is all a bit weird to read some of the nonsense posted - and of course no threats/spite involved from the EU side at all............

Is there perchance a situation here where Remainers are 'bending reality'?

There are about 1.3m UK citizens living across the 27 countries of the EU

and

About 3.6m EU citizens living in the UK

Just think about that for a minute

couple of things you need to recognise

1/ what you see as spite is what the EU see as negotiating tools - like the UK does with fishing
2/ 3.6m EU citizens in the UK - the majority are productive and working - 1.3m UK citizens in the EU - probably most are elderly and retired. If you're hinting at forced repatriations that would mean we and our health services lose.

The British Parliament can pass laws that benefit Britain. The EU’s ECJ can’t, as it’s now irrelevant, I think they may be getting that message. The only people upset at this are remainers who are constantly saying how the world won’t trade with us, because they don’t like it.
To my knowledge, the world hasn’t expressed outrage at us making our own laws.

That really isn’t the only people upset by that, in fact the complete opposite is true in that the only people that can possibly support it are that bought into the ideology of brexit they’ve left all sense of rational thought behind and any reason for being proud of our parliament in the first plac. There’s a reason you have leave voters heavily criticising it too.

For those that are interested though, I suggest having a read of the amendments that have been put in since getting through the commons and going to the lords. I’m not sure it can be argued at all anymore the risks to the GFA that they’ve put in this bill.

We are breaking International Law. Our position for best part of a century is that we do not break legally binding international commitments, our word is our bond and all that. It gives us a powerful voice when it comes to international relations.

Throwing that away over a confected row is dumb. It means other countries cannot trust us to keep our word when it comes to future agreements and that will come with a price.

Furthermore, the reason we are breaking International Law is because we signed an Agreement which we were too stupid to understand, just as we are too stupid to understand the future ramifications of breaking International Law.

Finally the IM Bill does not benefit Britain given three of the four nations that make up the United Kingdom have passed motions rejecting the IM bill and have warned it threatens the unity of ‘Britain’; so forgive if I again doubt your ‘loyalty’ to Britain or the United Kingdom given you actively promote actions that are not in its interests be they internationally or domestically.
Your recent conversion to to patriotism, based on a dislike of the Parliament you were cheering on when they were stymying Brexit is amusing. Now that that very same Parliament has passed a law you don’t like, you suddenly get a burst of affection for the union, which is still unified.
Still, despite this I’ll be a little more gracious and forgive you.

People who already live there will remain covered but the same can’t be said for anyone wanting to retire there. If you have residency already you’ll be fine. Maybe that’s why some people are trying to get residency before the end of the year. It’s a case of I’m alright Jack.
Before the Common Market was joined, reciprocity was in effect, if this changes, you can remind me when it does.

I’ve thought about it mate, and see no benefits whatsoever, for the EU, or ourselves, to scrap reciprocal agreements in force for years.

When I hear that a country refuses to trade with us, based on the angst of Europhiles upset at a Sovereign Parliaments actions, we can discuss this further.
