Always good to see a physical border disappear...a Brexit benefit :)

Brilliant, I'll believe it when I see it though. I lived / worked there for a while (during our EU membership) and the Spanish generally operate that border like the eurovision song contest voting system. Generally avoided it during buisness hours or if the Gibraltar 'issue' was in the headlines. Well worth popping across the border at night for drinks and seafood tapas.

It looks like the Gib deal pleases everyone. Leavers because they've avoided the worst effects of Brexit proving Brexit isn't that bad, and Remainers because they've avoided the worst effects of a stupid Brexit.

Anti colonials will like it as it makes it more likely we'll end up giving Gibraltar back to Spain. I used to think we could give them Gib and we'd have Menorca back (the only place I know with a plaque to celebrate the arrival of the British) but I think they'd be less keen now on being British outside the EU.

But have I got it right? Flying into Gib, EU citizens won't have border control but Brits will? I assume there would have to be checks otherwise Brits would just choose the Schengen exit.....

Seems of the four home nations plus Gibraltar, 4 out of 5 are getting what they voted for. NI and Gib effectively staying in the EU. England and Wales leaving, and just Scotland being forced out against its will. So much for the “United” Kingdom.
Wales was only for Leave because of all the English retired there.

Anyone flying in from somewhere else in the Shengen area won't have passport control. Brits, EU member state citizens, South Africans, Americans.
Anyone flying in from outside Shengen area will go through passport control. So a Spaniard flying in from London, or a Brit from London.
Like now.

UK is still in a common travel area with Ireland, as before.

No chance Gib goes back, they’re 90%+ in favour of staying as they are, they’ve entered schengen to maintain the open border.

The Spanish will not be manning the border, it will be Frontex, the EU border force, making this the first internal border manned by the EU.

Good. Hopefully in a more adult way than the Spanish. This is the sort of area where the EU can actually rise above its usual 'chocolate fireguard' level of usefulness.
