Anthony Taylor appointed ref for Chelsea

The fact that some posters on here are effectively saying that another poster should not air their views because they don't fit in with the majority view is bizarre and worrying.

Firstly, what is the point of a forum? The clue is in the name - a 'forum' for a person's view

Secondly, the minute you go down that route it becomes like a Trump rally - people winding each other up into a frenzy and throwing out people who aren't screaming 'lock her up' through their frothing lips. A myopic viewpoint that stifles debates and leads to closed minds.

Alternative viewpoints are healthy and necessary. Otherwise it's just a big circle jerk where no one learns anything.

It's bollocks mate, how many people from wythenshawe do you know who are altrincham fans? I know some that might pop over and watch them but none that actively support them. Rag from a family of rags, simple.
I did say I am not convinced

Thanks for the post. In fairness to some of my adversaries I do have 'form' in this subject matter. For a long time now I have been debating whether there is a media agenda against the club and this topic is a spill over from that.

Some state this is acting as a Wum but I think like most people on a forum you are attracted to the discussions where alternative ideas are argued and your own perceptions are challenged. Hence like a moth to a flame you become artracted to similar types of threads.

I appreciate my view is in the minority but there seems a strain running through the forum that the refs, Fa, media, pundits, Men, sky, BT, BBC are all against us even the likes of Andy Hinchcliffe have had accusations thrown his way. It does not resonate with me in the same way it does with others, hence I debate the point.

With regards this thread the only examples of 'evidence' are those provided by Exeter Blue who readily concedes the penalty against leicester is open to interpretation. So personally I am happpy to give him the benefit of the doubt even though Its sods law I am setting myself up for a fall. It just seems too easy for me to throw accusations about some ones character and social media seems to lend itself to strong accusations not robustly supported.

Lets just hope gor a great game and a City win and more healthy debate in the coming weeks.

They are like fuckin sheep mate agreeing with their mates post. Week in week fuckin out a Ref thread with the same fuckin faces making the same shit post. I've just had a nosey on a few other clubs forums and it's the same, in fact the Rags feel they are the most hard done by team anywhere, it's a full on agenda against them.

Well well well this thread has escalated, where are the "does not matter who the ref is blah blah blah" brigade now ?

I often put a thread up late Monday afternoon when we discover who the ref is for the upcoming game, and as I have said so many times in the past,it is a serious subject that does need discussing, and time for us to absorb what we will be up against on match day.

I am not condoning people to fall out with each other over it,it is me who falls out with people on here lol,but it is a very serious topic, that generally does warrant debate,Taylor does not worry me too much for this match v Chelsea to be honest,a worse candidate than him could have been chosen, the list in endless really,so I'm hoping, for a change, that this match will pass by with 3 points for us,and no mention after of a bad performance from the referee............................hope you are reading this Anthony......................you rag prick :)

Taylor, along with most of the refs are poor but as long as we don't see Rob Madley ever again in charge of a City game I will be more than happy.

So in short you're saying that in your opinion other posters shouldn't be allowed to express their opinion about other posters expressing an opinion? Just leave the modding of the site to us.

The problem with the appointment of Taylor for a game involving us or the rags is that, whoever he does or doesn't support, Mike Riley shouldn't put his officials in a position where there could be seen to be a possible conflict of interest.

But when he came up to the Etihad to do his Q&A with Points of Blue in 2012, he made that point himself, when he was talking about refereeing appointments when he said "we try to avoid a conflict of interest wherever possible".

There were a few others on here who were there for that as well who'll confirm that was then pointed out to him that Lee Mason (who Riley had just told us was a Bolton fan) had just refereed a QPR game at the swamp when Bolton & QPR were both in a relegation fight so surely that was a conflict of interest. That had clearly never occurred to him.

The problem is that it's based on which FA County Association a ref is attached to. Around Manchester there's the Lancashire FA, the Manchester FA and the Cheshire FA. Taylor is attached to the Cheshire FA which means he can officiate at both Manchester clubs, who belong to the Manchester FA. If we had a Gtr Manchester FA in the same way they have a Merseyside FA, neither Mason nor Taylor would be able to referee us or the rags.

Mike Dean is supposedly a Tranmere fan and lives on The Wirral, which is part of the Cheshire FA but he won't referee Liverpool or Everton games, which I understand was his choice. That's right in my view and Riley is wrong to assign Taylor to games involving the Manchester clubs.
