Any news on Micah Richards' return?

Unfortunately i suspect that Micah Richards , being the pacey , all action , type of player that he is , is always gonna suffer injury problems ...... certainly so far he's missed far too many games , and these continued absences won't do his international prospects much good either.

As you say his body can't take the pacy, up and down the field job that full backs have to perform, so it looks like centre half will have to be his position.
All we need is a defensive coach who can drill into him what and what not to do, when and when not to do it
With the correct coaching he has the prospect to become a beast in central defence

Micah Richards’ injury makes most of the headlines this morning with several tabloids reporting the City star won’t play again until next January.

Richards, who had returned to first-team action with a series of barnstorming performances following an injury sustained with Team GB during the summer, was stretchered off at the weekend after collapsing in agony as he ran back to defend a cross.

Now it appears he will be absent for two months, though we will bring the latest news of his recovery on mcfc.co.uk as soon as we have it.

The Daily Telegraph’s Mark Ogden covers the story with this report: “Micah Richards faces a battle to play again this year after undergoing knee surgery on Monday that is likely to see the Manchester City defender sidelined until Christmas at the earliest.

“The 24 year-old, who was carried off in the closing stages of Saturday’s 1-0 victory against Swansea at the Etihad Stadium, damaged the meniscus cartilage in his right knee while running back towards goal.

“Moments earlier, the former England full-back forced play to be stopped in order to receive treatment for cramp, but his efforts to continue in the game were ended abruptly when he collapsed to the ground clutching his knee in the 81st minute.

“Attempts to scan Richards’s knee over the weekend proved unsuccessful owing to the extent of swelling around knee joint, but after the injury was assessed on Monday, the defender underwent surgery in the afternoon.

“Although the initial prognosis suggests that the player faces six to eight weeks out of action, the injury will be reassessed once Richards begins his rehabilitation.”

The news is a major blow to City and England and England and everyone connected with the Club wishes Micah a speedy recovery.

DailyFail reporting that his injury is less serious than everyone thought, and he could be out for weeks rather than months. Really hope this is true, although they have no quotes or sources.
Micah Richards underwent surgery on his injured knee at a Manchester hospital on Monday afternoon.

The City defender saw a specialist at lunchtime who recommended immediate surgery to mend a torn knee cartilage.

Richards suffered the injury near the end of Saturday's narrow win over Swansea in the Barclays Premier League.

There were fears that the England international had damaged knee ligaments, something that could have ruled him out until the end of the season.

However, those fears were allayed on Monday morning and Richards is hopeful that his lay-off will be weeks rather than months.

Monday afternoon’s surgery is likely to have been a key-hole operation, a procedure that reduces the recovery time.

Richards and City manager Roberto Mancini will not receive the full prognosis until later on Monday.

Meanwhile, City winger David Silva is back in England after spending a week in Spain having physio on a hamstring injury.

The Spanish international hopes to be back in training with his City team-mates towards the end of the week but will not play against West Ham on Sunday.

Me 2 (-;

Hope he can come back soon, as when on form he is literally unstoppable, always gives 100% and by his interviews you can clearly sees his love for the club. I do believe he could slim down a bit to quicken up and maybe help prevent as many injuries. Body shape of a few years ago brain and talent of today. We will miss him surely.
