Anyone else a bit fed up of football?

Last game I went to was United away. It's also the last top level game I've watched on any format.

VAR, the whole TV side being aimed at kids up to 20 somethings, covid restrictions, its all added up to something I don't like.

Started going to my local non league side. 20 quid for the season ticket. Beer stood next to the pitch. Pie and chips at half time and a few jars after. Walk home happy.

I'm sure when it comes back properly I'll start up again but at the moment that seems a long time away.
Know quite a few people who’ve started going to watch non-league since the pandemic began. Initial fear was that they’d all go bust, but paradoxically they might come out of this quite well on the other side. Definitely a growing swell of resentment towards the Premier League amongst many match going fans.

My Grandad thought football was ‘ruined’ when teams started fielding ‘load of foreigners’

My dad said football was ‘ruined’ when multi million signings were made in the 90’s

now loads are saying football is ‘ruined’ because of VAR.

It’s not ruined, it evolves.
it continues to be a massive global success.
Match thread on here will have 2/300 pages.

PL is brilliant , we are lucky enough to witness the worlds best players playing in our top league. Fans will continue to moan but deep down they love it really.

I haven't yet watched a full game this season, even City. I can't get into it. No fans, new rules, VAR none of it is appealing to me. I got my fix going to a semi pro game. Loved it.

I'm not fed up with football at all, I'd be back at the Etihad like a shot if it was allowed. I enjoyed watching the kids last night and I'm looking forward to today's match, the women's Cup Final tomorrow and the Youth Cup Final on Monday (if work doesn't intervene).

I'm definitely fed up that as I live 60 miles away I haven't seen a number of friends for months that I usually meet up with on match-days.

I still love watching City - any team or level. I can't really be bothered watching other teams though, and I don't pay much attention to the PL in general, other than watching United when they lose, or Liverpool when they got destroyed by Villa.

I've been involved in organising football for more than forty years though. For the last twenty I've run a vets team playing an hour a week, with some guys from our village in Cheshire. Numbers were dwindling when we were forced to stop, back in March. We started up again at the beginning of October with renewed interest, and we're now getting around thirty players each week. Everyone is really enjoying playing again.

The love of football will never leave me, but the focus shifts around sometimes.

Off to watch a non league match today, fallen out with the matchday experience in the premier league and VAR and the virtue signalling hasn't helped either.

With another national lockdown looking likely we will soon have a thread ' What was the last game you attended ?"......sadly

For the first time today I actually said to the missus it's been 9 months now and I am beginning to miss match day. Not VAR, and the bent refs etc. But I am beginning to miss me and my lad leaving at 7am, looking out for fellow blues on the motorways, getting to the ground, watch the match , waiting about 45 minutes to get out of the carpark, back home about 1am Sunday. I think I needed a break.

I not fed up with football, I love watching City. However I fed up with the corrupt suits trying to turn the game into a closed shop for the glamour queens.
Scrap VAR, and leave it to the officials. Scrap the Europa League, and bring back the European knock out competitions. Scrap FFP, its been manipulated to stop competition.
As for European Super League, our club should fuck it off. I would rather watch City play Newcastle, Everton, and West Ham in the Premier League than PSG, and Liverpool in a Super League. I would rather watch City play Anderlecht, Cologne, and Seville in fair European competition than Barca, and united in a private members club with no relegation. We have seen recently how these glamour queen clubs can influence, and corrupt UEFA. All the other clubs across europe to come together to stand up to these greedy, selfish twats, and ensure the integrity, and fairness of football both in domestic leagues, and european competion.
If you fail to qualify for the knock out stages of the Champions League you are OUT, and not dropped into the Europa league, its criminal.
If clubs want to form a European Super League let them but bar them from their domestic leagues, and bar them from UEFA competition.

Rant over.

Football has evolved but it has evolved into something i, and many others it seems, see as a less exciting spectacle. The VAR farce, the media love in of all things red, the rule changes to promote goals at the expense of entertaining football, penalty box hand balls. The influence of SKY, the cretinous pundits(Paul Merson, spit the scouser)?? These and many more reasons are responsible for my loss of love for the game. City are in me but football is not.
