When i first started boozing in cheadle at 17, i was pretty star struck when i was was sat in the george and dragon and local resident alex higgins walked in.
We were all nudging each other, a bona fida world star, stood at the bar, chatting to the landlord pete the pig
Any starry eyedness soon evaporated when we very quickly realised he was a pissed up pain in the arse. After that we’d groan when he entered the premises.

Used to see him quite often wandering down Burnage Lane in the 70s, usually on his way home from the off-licence with a plastic bag with bottles and a 200 pack of fags in it. No-one ever bothered to try to speak to him because you just knew he'd tell you to fuck off.
Absolute waste of talent with zero personality. He was a miserable self-pitying pisshead.
