I shall continue to politely turn down the RMT rep, that badgers my lads from time to time also..

His lads do make up their own mind, he turns the rep down for himself as he doesnt want to join a Union, but they keep mitherin his lads.

What do you not understand about it? Glen makes choices about joining unions for himself, not his workforce, they make their own minds up!!

I am done with this subject. To be seen as the minority, when all i have done is secure MY OWN future, without paying for bob crow and his irk, to live a lavish lifestyle on MY dosh. I have myself to thank for my position, just because i don't want to toil for 12 hrs a day, then be thankfull for the same wages as joe bloggs next door, doesn't make me a bad person. Oh and btw, the trackmen that work for me, earn 25% than their equivalent peers in the north west. That's not because of their union ties, but their eagerness to earn and provide a better life for themselves and their families.

I can tell by reading your post on the bluemoon that you lookafter your lads,which is pretty good to be honest..

If you think in every workplace that management behave like you glen you are mistaken..

Thats why the union is needed to help folk out..



Has this country become so dependant on others fighting for their rights? What happened to the get up and go?

This is what i am getting at mate, It is just ME who doesn't believe in unions! As i have prospered in my job without them! If I/ME, (not you , but for those who don't understand) why should i give them my money now?


As for my lads, i pay them £20 an hour at weekend, not one other gang gets this rate, in fact if they joined the union, they would get £14.50 an hour. To be equal with all those, who are safely in their union. Don't forget their 'subs' or 'dues' or whatever they call it. I am also strictly covered by health and safety laws, and would never, ever ask them to do anything unsafe. This is something that is close to my heart, as in the past 10 years, i have lost two FRIENDS, to linside accidents.

I dont have a problem with anyone who likes or dislikes unions its their views so they are entitled to it...

Ive just seen first hand how they have helped folk on the shopfloor out,pay rises,disciplinary procedures,better working conditions etc etc etc...i will agree with you though that the higher they go they take take take,which does look bad at times..

He is anti union and admits that, it`s his choice, but when he jumps on a thread to put down somebody genuinely wants to improve his and fellow workers pay and conditions, then he should be prepared for other forum members to put the union side across and show how self centered he is. I would not be suprised if he actually had his forum user name on his city shirt. Just so everybody knows who he is.

Calm down now. I think you are blinded by loyalty to a friend, you are wrong. He is anti union and admits that, it`s his choice, but when he jumps on a thread to put down somebody genuinely wants to improve his and fellow workers pay and conditions, then he should be prepared for other forum members to put the union side across and show how self centered he is. No you were just wrong. You accused him of stopping people seeing a union rep or denying them access which he clearly told you he didnt do but instead of just admitting you were wrong you kept up the pretence disappeared and then come back on telling us we are all wrong for pointing out thatc you were wrong.
