How can i be a leech? Surely the union cunts are the leeches? You go on idolising bob crow as he drinks martinis in his park lane hotel, while you union boys top and tail in a premier inn. Fucking joker.

And let's not forget Lord Prescott........

.....power to the PEEEEEEPULLLLLL!!!!!

For the record, I was a shop steward for the TGWU back in the day. Opened my eyes to the gravy-train that those higher up in the Unions ride on. For years.

Once you reach a certain level, you're pretty much untouchable. It really is a closed-shop.....

So, yeah I'm clearly a 'Tory'....

Could agree with most of that,

Its still not a bad thing being in the union though,i was in it for 16 years and served me well..

Did me no harm either, but those in middle to senior positions, whilst tub-thumping for the common man, get benefits WAY beyond those available to the card-carrying masses.

And if you took a snapshot of the management structure at my former employers, most of those now in senior positions, were once Union reps.

The Tories on here don't half stick together don't they? A demonstration of comradely solidarity that warms the heart. You should form a union.

Touched a nerve have i? You don`t pay to be in th Union but expect all the benefits, rate of pay, safe working environment and all th other conditions the Union and management have agreed. Thats how you are a leech.

So we should all sign up to the Union because years before me people provided me with a better working environment

Ive mentioned that same scenario on here before..

Near enough every union rep ive seen has been promoted to management, and then they will fight the managments cause against the new reps....Fucking bizarre..

Most companys would just run fucking riot over their employees without the union though....imo!

It was bizarre. The same person who maybe once defended you in a disciplinary matter, is suddenly sat across the table explaining why you're on a final written warning for absence and you'll be out the door if you don't buck your ideas up.

My other half is high up the HR chain so she is involved with unions on a daily basis....she knows deep down without the union her job would be a hell of lot easier....then again she realises the employee would probably get shafted at certain firms without them...

To be fair i dont have a problem if people dont want to join one and at the same time the ones paying their subs shouldnt get grief..

Sorry mate, why do you find it bizarre? It's simply human nature, same with communism. Whilst we may all have "ideals", at the end of the day, we will do whatever is best for ourselves and our families.

For me, it just makes me laugh at those that are so pro-Union and Anti-management, their stance would change if they moved up the ladder, whether they say it wouldn't or not. It just would.

I dont begrudge them swp... as me and flash have said one day they are sat beside you telling you how good the union is and defending you...then they are sat in front of you giving you a warning...

Like you said they have been offered a better package to jump ship and i guess most folk would do it...

Don't get me wrong SWP, I saw it for what it was, at that level. And saw many instances where the rep-turned-manager flexed their new Company muscles against people they had represented previously.

Unions work, I have first-hand experience of it. But you tend to find that those with the strongest views and the loudest voice in support of Unions are those that stand to gain the most, and yes, you're right, it's human nature to do what's best for you.

Some of us have refused to bought off by the management, you are right in what you say. That some union reps do use it as a form of promotion. Personally i have no time for these people, if they want to be promoted , go for i but don`t use the Union as a stepping stone.

I am sure as you know my stance on this i am anti-union. I have got in the position i have today, not because i have "leeched' of the union to get my pay and conditions. I worked my balls off, then converted said monies into knowledge, by doing courses and going back to education while i still worked and had a family. So me, myself and i got my pay and condituons, not the tool badgering me and feeding me bullshit for my 'dues'.

So while all you give your dosh to the unions, thinking you have a job for life if anything happens, then good on you. I shall continue to politely turn down the RMT rep, that badgers my lads from time to time also..
