Are Arsenal actually placing bounties on opposing players?

Did I think it would wind them up? Sure.

Did I expect them to respond on the pitch (by trying to actually beat us)? Absolutely.

But targeting a player to try to injure him because of something he said? That is just pathetic in every possible way and an example of all that is wrong in the world.

And no one should be trying to rationalise or justify that behaviour.

They've shown absolutely no willingness to try meet us eye for eye since Arteta took over, that won't change.

For a man schooled under Pep, that was the most Simeone thing I've seen in football here and that even counts Mourinho's era.

Havertz threw himself in, and didn't do a thing more.

Rodri's injury was unrelated to their nonsense and could have happened anytime.

They stood their like buffoons in their box for 60 mins and look what it got them in the end. A point and the loss of all respect in the football community from what I've read today.

Arteta tried a cowards approach and his players looked like cowards as a result.

Their antics has now cost them Rice and Trossard. Refs aren't falling for it anymore, so good luck to them if they want to keep going down this road.

Of course, but that wasn’t the point I was making.

No one should be trying to justify their disgusting behaviour.

What they did was wrong and I don’t want any City player doing it.

For the simple fact that I don’t want my lad watching it and thinking that is acceptable behaviour.

Even worse a City fan !

I’ll have to take your word on that mate.

I’ve calmed down a bit. Had some sleep, some breakfast, given head a wobble etc. - so let’s take a long view.

Arsenal, in the later Wenger years and the Emery regency, had a well-earned reputation for being - how shall I put this? - testosterone-deficient? Soft as shite? Played some nice stuff, but didn’t like it up ‘em, Mr Mainwaring?

Back in the day, it was considered an outrage that these born-to-the-purple aristocrats of football had to share the same rain-soaked turf as the likes of Ryan Shawcross (and not “former Manchester United academy prospect Ryan Shawcross” either). Their players got seriously hurt. And I mean, seriously.

It’s to Virgil Treacy’s credit that he’s seen a need to toughen his team up. They can now dish it out. Can they take it?

Nice title-chasing team you got there, son. It’d be a shame if something nasty happened to one of them.
