Did I think it would wind them up? Sure.
Did I expect them to respond on the pitch (by trying to actually beat us)? Absolutely.
But targeting a player to try to injure him because of something he said? That is just pathetic in every possible way and an example of all that is wrong in the world.
And no one should be trying to rationalise or justify that behaviour.
They've shown absolutely no willingness to try meet us eye for eye since Arteta took over, that won't change.
For a man schooled under Pep, that was the most Simeone thing I've seen in football here and that even counts Mourinho's era.
Havertz threw himself in, and didn't do a thing more.
Rodri's injury was unrelated to their nonsense and could have happened anytime.
They stood their like buffoons in their box for 60 mins and look what it got them in the end. A point and the loss of all respect in the football community from what I've read today.
Arteta tried a cowards approach and his players looked like cowards as a result.
Their antics has now cost them Rice and Trossard. Refs aren't falling for it anymore, so good luck to them if they want to keep going down this road.
