Moved it in here as its not City related.

READ THE BLOODY THREAD!!!!

IT IS CITY RELATED

IT'S ABOUT WHETHER CITY ARE A PROTESTANT CLUB!!!!
It's a ludicrous question. City have never been affiliated to any particular religion.

Wrong, pb.

City were started as the club of St Marks church, an Anglican church.

So they certainly were affiliated.

The debate was an attempt to illustrate that that no longer matters.

Here's where it sprung from:

No. There was a football team started by someone whose father was a minister at St Marks. That doesn't mean that everyone associated with it was a church-goer. It may well have included Catholics and, in any case, the association with St Marks had been lost by the time the club known as Manchester City were formed in 1894. They were a limited company.

That song is sung by nob heads who also sing about Munich and probably threw bananas and made monkey noises at black players a few years ago. Don't confuse being a complete dick head with religion.

PB, the club were founded as "St Marks Gorton" in 1880.

So you were wrong when you said that the club has never had any affiliation with the church, however much you play it down.
