Are expections too high for next season?

Plan A
Perennial contenders for the Premier League, winning it at least once over the next three years
More luck involved in the latter stages of the CL, so let's just ensure that we reach the latter stages every year

Plan B
Win the Europa League next year, and show a huge improvement in the Premier League.

Anyone with any realism about them will see that even the very best teams don't always win the trophies. It's about competing for them that's important. We've not competed for the league title for two years, with the team we have that's a disgrace!

Next season it's going to be a transitional year and you've got to look at the age of Kompany Zaba Clichy Kolarov Fernandinho Yaya and Silva and see how important they've been to our team and think how we've got to either replace or compliment these players with younger and fitter models because every single one of them will e worse or more injury prone next season as they age and break down more.

But it would be very nice if we could compete for the title again, by the time this time next year comes it will have been a three year gap between competing for the title.

Still many factors to weigh into what we can expect next season. Will we even be in the CL next season? Will we have got our transfer targets? If we are in CL we'll be pot 2 & could get Barcelona and another group of death. Who will our rivals bring in (players/managers)?

I'm certainly not expecting the world from Pep in his first season as I feel it will be a fairly transitional season from old guard to new guard, all I hope for is an improvement tactically & off the ball.

Assuming we make top 4 (we will) and assuming Utd , Chelsea, and Liverpool don't (they won't) we should have a clear advantage in the summer transfer window.

Serious investment in this squad which will almost certainly be less affected by injuries to key players (to have 2 seasons with the level of injuries we have endured this year would be virtually impossible bad luck), means we should be seeing the title as virtually guaranteed.

We should continue our record of getting to domestic semis at least, there is no reason why a stronger squad with a purportedly better manager should regress in these competitions. Realistically a lge or fa cup final should be a knocking bet and as we would have the stronger squad v any opponent we should realistically expect to win at least one domestic cup.

We have got to the last 4 of the ecl this season with a corpse as manager. It would be a big step backwards not to at least equal this. We were in pot 2 this season too so that can be no excuse.

So in summary:

Title winners, one domestic cup at least, and last 4 of he CL should be the realistic minimum expectation. Anything less would be a (expensive no doubt) failure of epic proportions.

My expectation each season for the last sixty seasons has been a hope that we do ourselves justice and play to the limit of our capacity. No trophies earmarked. Two wins in the Manc-Swamp derbies. Decent cup run. Anything else is the bonus, the icing or the cherry on the icing.

Pure unadulterated rubbish, your whole premise is dependent on no other teams playing
To expect to win anything is very raggish/arrogant but you don't even have expectation, and to top it all if we don't won't two trophies and finish fourth in Europe then it's an epic fail, do me a favour...
