Are expensive headphones REALLY worth it?

How good is the noise cancelling option. Can you still hear someone approaching if you, for example, were jacking off to porn..... Asking for a friend

I have a few Sony MDR7506s, best studio headphones and difference between this and most others is night and day.

Careful though when buying them as there are very well-made knockoffs for this popular headphones so make sure the source is reputable.

Also, I have a few because the material they use for the earcups disintegrates after wear and tear. The black stuff goes everywhere on the ears, on clothes on the floor and they dont come off easily. Still the best headphones I have.

I have others for specific purposes like the ATH, Sennheisers, but the Sony is as staple as having a Shure SM7B microphone.

i got some bang olufsen BeoPlay H9s for nothing, but they are very heavy but great sound

Tested loads of headphones 4/5 years ago in the £200 to £400 range , the best sound by far for me were the Sennhieser Momentum 2 ‘s ,, still use them most days..
Also tested some at silly money for home listening and bought some Audeze LCD 2 phones,, they make you look like a plum cos of their size, but boy they sound lovely, at £900 they should tho

I've got loads of headphones. I have open-back Grado SR-80 which I use at home (and I've got on at the moment). They're brilliant and even with my poor hearing I can tell the difference between them and a cheaper pair.

I've got the wired and Bluetooth AKG Y50 headphones and both are very decent (the Bluetooth are better though) but I recently managed to get a pair of Bose 700 Noise Cancelling headphones for £170 (RRP £350) and they are phenomenal. Like the Grados, I can hear every detail of the music, plus they cut out the noise. Flying to the USA in a couple of days so they're going to get the ultimate test on the plane, where I've never really been able to listen properly due to engine noise.
