Are telesales people..

I used to work in tele sales and it was completely cold calling. To be fair I didn't really get much shit off people. I think there is a certain tone of voice you can use where the customer doesn't necessarily get angry. The worst I would get would be people telling me to remove their names from the data base which I did. Used to love that job and quite miss the place where I worked. The work place environment was second to none.

The Indians are a different story, I just put the phone down. I had an Indian woman come in to the office trying to sell credit cards for a bank I've never heard of before with photocopied leaflets. She was ridiculously hard sell and pushy. Fuck knows who let her in but I told her straight to leave and stop bothering colleagues.

The thing that winds me up is when an obviously "Asian" sounding person phones up and says "Am I speaking to Mr Dabz? Hello Mr Dabz, my name is Graham"...I usually stop them in their tracks and say, listen mate, I think it's highly unlikely that is your name, so I have no wish to speak to someone who has just lied to me in their first sentence. Goodbye.
I understand why they do it, but for me, a lie is a lie.


You got to be careful with this, only last week I got a call from a lad called Greg wanting me and my mate to do some painting on a job gone over schedule, and I could have sworn he was Asian.
Anyway, I met him, and he's a white lad with this weird accent, so eventually I asked him where he (and his team) were from as I guessed maybe Italian on meeting him, but they were all Hungarian!
We had a good chat about it, and he reckoned the Hungarian language is unlike any of their neighbours, which rings a bell with me from somewhere.
I am prepared to believe most of these cold callers are Indian, but you shouldn't assume really until you know for a fact, really.

Edit, I figure Greg is short for Gregor/Gregory, and is his real name, not just to make us English feel comfy or whatever.
 
Considering that it's common knowledge most call centres were moved to India, I feel it safe to assume.
This isn't a race thing by the way, as I'm sure your aware-I hate racism in all it's forms, this is a trust thing.
The whole point of their calls is to fish for business.
Who wants to do business with someone who lies to you straight off the bat?
They ALWAYS say they have English sounding names when there is no way this could be true, one or two maybe, but certainly not all of them.

Funniest one I had was I kept getting international calls asking for someone with an Indian sounding name. After about 4 calls in a week I rang Virgin to see if I could ban incoming international calls. They said they can ban outgoing calls but not incoming.
5 minutes later I got a call from another International number. Answered it and was just about to tell them where to go and it was a call from Virgin media asking if I could do a survey based on my call to them.
I told them they did not want me to do a survey as it will not be flattering.

Luckily calls more or less stopped now but international or withheld number calls, ill just end call without answering

I hate the cunts, for their own safety i've had all withheld numbers blocked. As i was on the verge of murdering as many of the bastards as possible as they were driving me right round the bend.
 
Every week I'm getting phone calls telling me I've either been involved in an accident or been sold PPI which I shouldn't have been. I'm pleasant with every one of them as I acknowledge they're just doing their job however I'm unsure how many times I can say "sorry, you've got it wrong, could you remove my number from your database please? Thanks, have a good day". They're clearly not removing my number, cunts.

Had one girl who sounded fit though, if she phones back I'm just going to wank over the phone to her, might stop the phone calls.
