Because of the aim to win all the trophies it's fair to say Utd is the main challenger because I think there have been more games played against them than Liverpool in recent seasons. Your main rivals are probably the team(s) that you have played against most.

In 13/14 I had no issue with LFC, it was the media that did my tits in that year.

Since around the time of the bus incident tho, when LFC fans seemed to suddenly want to create a rivalry with us, it has got more complicated in terms of who our main rival is but I still find it more emotionally annoying when Utd beat us than LFC (obviously losing a 6pointer against LFC is more damaging in a sporting sense), maybe them being shit plays a part in that.
