Are we going to win the league?

No chance of the league, we'll still drop a load more points yet and at the same time I can't see the rags dropping more than about 5 or 6.

We lost it in the crazy 90 seconds at the end of the derby by gifting them a win. The team (& Mancini) have under-achieved so far this season but we over-achieved in the previous two IMO so whilst it is extremely disappointing it is not a disaster. If van Persie receives a season ending injury soon tben you can see the Rags collapsing as they really are being carried by him in the same way Tevez carried us a few seasons ago so there is still an outside chance of us winning it.

Some pruning of the likes of Nasri & Kolarov in the summer with more able replacements coming in should do the trick for next season.

Absolute rubbish. We were by far the best team last season and should have won the league with games to spare. If any team over achieved it was the rags with lots of lucky wins. For a City fan to say we over achieved beggars belief.

Maybe I choose my words unwisely as I meant that winning the league was a fantastic achievement - we definitely deserved it. To follow it up by retaining it was always going to be a big ask.

Despite all the woe and despondency on here, if Nasri hadn't flicked his leg at van Persie's freekick we'd still be only 1 point behind now. That Derby winner has made all the difference, and we had dominated the second-half until then.

What is also frustrating is that we have more shots / corners / possession in every game - even the ones we draw or lose. Can't think of a single (league) game this season where I've thought: "We were outplayed there - lucky to get anything". City had 15 shots and 10 corners last night (to QPR's 5 & 2) but we didn't win.

Whereas United consistently win games where the other team has had equal or more chances. Last game, Spurs had 25 shots to Utd's 5 but only just scraped a draw.

If we were able to put away the same % of our shots as Utd do, then we would literally have won every game, including the derby.

All ifs and buts, I know ... but frustrating all the same.

No. Rags should win the league quite comfortably from here. I fancy us for the FA Cup though.

That's what has been missing this year.

Alot of possession but not always converting the dominance into goals that matter.

What you "deserve" is not always what you get.

Plus Manure have a once in "50 year" conversion rate in gaining 3 points when conceding first.

Hopefully we are building the club on and off the field to ensure we challenge every year to some extent so that Manure and others know we are not going away although we may come up short this season.

On the balance of probabilities, no, but we know football's a 'funny old game.'

Too many of our players have been off form (relative to the standards they set last year), it's as simple as that. Maybe we needed to add more quality in the summer, but whether we like it or not, FFP affected our position in the market. On the players we have, performing as they did last year, we would be six or seven points clear at the moment.

Interestingly, our defence is rock solid now - 19 conceded in 23 games - so the 'cause' of our relative malaise is the forwards who just simply aren't scoring enough.

Will I be disappointed if we don't retain it? Of course. Will we qualify for the Chumps league? Yes. Will we win a pot? Highly likely (particularly if the likelihood of retaining the league continues to diminish).

And will we all appreciate who we are, where we've come from and what a bright future we have? No brainer.

We keep slipping up and putting in lethargic performances.

Strikers aren't on form (we could and should have buried QPR last night or at the very least got 1)

That Lot aren't playing particularly well either but the keep winning. We can't 'hope' that RVP will get injured, we have to do it ourselves and we just don't seem to have that same guile we had last year.

We were level on points this time last year, now we could be (potentially) 7 points behind. 14 games left, they have 15. We're technically another game behind due to the points difference so we have realistically 13 games to turn things around. Too much of a tall order unless their form starts to drop.

I'd love to disagree with you, but I just can't. You wouldn't believe the number of City fans who were arguing against signing Van Persie on here though....

I was and would still be against it.

I said it was a desperate gamble by fergie because he thought if he didn't win the trophy this year he might never get the chance again. The only time that £65,000,0000 gamble will have been deemed to pay off or not is when the title has been decided at the end of the season or before.

All our previously brilliant strikers are having trouble scoring, thats more to do with the way we play than the actual strikers.

If you notice most of the chances we have are against a packed defence, 11 men behind the ball.
With united, they break quickly living their strikers in the main in 1v 1, 2 v 2 or 3 v 3.

The earlier stages of last season we were devastating going forward fast and Incisive, but we've changed as much as teams have against us have. Now we're slow and deliberatetake 20 passes instead 4, 5 or 6to get in the edge of or in our opponents box.

I'm a glass half-full bloke, so I say yes we will.
With regards the above, I have always thought that Sinclair could be our 'ace in the pack'. He is what we are missing and needs to be given longer match time.
Bob doesn't play him because his is rubbish, its just because he doesn't like playing with wingers.
Play him and see what happens. He is just as good, if not better than

Last season after a fantastic start, the African nations cup striped us off kolo and yaya. To add to that we were cruelly robbed of Vincent kompany's services at the same time. Unfortunately we had to rely on the inexperienced savic who after a untimely mistake seemed panic as more pressure was added the lad he seemed to go into meltdown.

At this time, we went into a more cautious phase probably in an attempt to protect lescott and the ever more dithing and panicing savic.

It wasn't until all seemed lost the bob took the handbrake off against WBA at the etihad. From then we went from strength to strength. We all remember Norwich, Wolves, United, Newcastle and QPR.

This season I thought we would start as we started and finished last year. But no apart from a few false dawn we've tended to play as we did while kolo and yaya were away last time.

it's a shame to be clinging on to what that lot are doing, though I'm starting to think that 7 points over 14 games could be too much to catch, if they win tonight.

If we had won last night they and the fans would have been nervous, us having only drawn they will be more confident...

I hate to say it but it's a no for me.

As long as we push the fuckers as hard as we possibly can until the end then I'll be happy with third, first and second over the last three years.
