Are we over rated?

I think its beginning to look like City are some kind of better version of Blackburn in their big money phase.

It stated well, better than expected, and is now showing signs of coming off the rails.

I'm not saying City will slump like Blackburn did, but with Liverpool, Spurs and Everton getting better all the time, and with United probably just having a single season of difficulties I can foresee City having a struggle to get top 4 on a regular basis.

Truly WTF???????????????????????????????

Our first choice XI is maybe a little overrated but we have some elite players who would get into any team on the planet. Just a few, mind! But our squad is the most overrated squad in world football. Past our elite players we are bang average compared to other elite teams.

I agree a very raggish comment. How can he say Spurs are improving they are going back faster than the Italian army in full retreat.

I don't see why.

I'm not saying City will disappear from the top of the division, just that I think that there is a danger we won't get a top 4 place all the time. That's hardly gloom and doom, but it is short of what we were expecting.

Things are getting more competitive.

Bollox!

Seasons are long and luck, injuries, players having off days and even nerves all play a major part of winning or losing.
We have an amazing team and squad full of potential world beaters on their day, yes we're in need of improvement in a few areas, but apart from that we can and will destroy any team.

Overrated? definitely not... Under-par sometimes? Yes, but tell me which team isn't.

I've never heard a reaction like this in my life! Take a good look around, step back, look what we've achieved in this short space of time and then grasp the project, the teams and the campus, the owners, the support and all that is now City.

We are the future of football and we will be around the top for my remaining days on this earth, of that I have NO doubt and it makes me proud to be blue.

Onwards and upwards CTID

I see some talk about squad depth and needing world class players to be on your bench.

If I may chime in - Even the BEST Milan squads (which may very well be the best squad ever assembled) had its share of borderline bad players on the bench... or at least nowhere near up to snuff of the first team.

You dont need 20+ world class players to win the league, a cup, or Europe. You need a set of skilled players, with heart, grit and ability.

Your bench NEEDS to be comprised mostly of players who know they aren't quite at first team level, but have the ambition to get there. When their name is called, they give 120%.

World class stars do not want to be on the bench... and only 11 players can play at once. World class players on the bench pout, and give less effort than a decent player with much to prove.

It's easy to see when reading this forum who has City in their heart, and who just joined the ride when the sugar daddy came to town. The overreaction is incredible. Trebles and quads and whatever else dont grow on trees... you're a dynasty when you reach that level. And City still needs to get to that level - where they have an Identity, a style an aura - Like some of the old Milan teams, Madrid, Barca and what Bayern are in the midst of.

City has all the ability to get there, and likely will - but expecting it so quickly or like it's just a given that money will win you everything is wrong. you need a team that is sold on a single vision.
