Are You Officially Priced Out Yet, Or Almost?

We have to be very careful not to lose a generation of fans. There are many of us who love the club and I have been in Love with City for 43 years, and now we're over 50 we still like to consumate the relationship a few times each season. There is a reason ( no doubt many and varied) why we have not got season tickets but if tickets for games such as Stoke seem to be pushing £50 plus £35 to even be eligible for tickets (okay you only pay once but the principle is appalling) then a lot of fans just won't or can't go and they might not come back. Of course the team is magnificent but this is only one short spell in our incredible history and whilst hopefully it will continue for ages it also might not. That's when you need the devoted fans but if they get priced out it will be a big problem expecting us to come back once the bandwagon jumpers move onto their next team.

So, setting aside that some just want old time pricing with all the glory of modern times - so lets be macho about the
Sheik putting his money in endlessly but don't expect me to put a bit in as well - some of the key points coming out of this thread seem to be that SCs are good value - so why not get on that list with the extra capacity becoming available and give some passion to the club

Who is talking about "old time pricing"? It's telling that when you don't have a strong argument you feel the need to misrepresent the other point of view.

Just not being ripped off is ok for me. As for not putting in a bit, City supporters have put in plenty to the club over the years, if not for our traditional core support the club wouldnt exist. So forgive me if I treat the "don't expect me to put in a bit" with the disdain it deserves.

Well I do not want to get into a tit for tat with fellow blues, so best to let it go. But without meaning to pick holes in your post - rather just a general comment on a number of posts that seem to expect the Sheik to just pour never ending money in without asking the fans to match a fraction of it, just a couple of comments:

"Who is talking about "old time pricing"? It's telling that when you don't have a strong argument you feel the need to misrepresent the other point of view."

I feel my argument is very strong - well at least IMO - you do not say anything that addresses my argument. I do not have the facts and figures to hand but I am sure if I did then they would show that CITY, SC and match tickets, especially SC are very favourable compared to the other 'top 5' clubs in the PL. The fact that we are good value against our valid comparisons should be recognised and applauded by fans - but it is easier not to.

"Just not being ripped off is ok for me"

Well valid comparisons would show that neither you or any there CITY fan is being ripped off - so that should be OK for you. What some on here seem to want is rock bottom prices for them and utterly massive investment from the Sheik - would be nice, but I am happy to put my hand into my pocket and cough up some more, recognising that the quality of what I see is just so f@@king good.

"if not for our traditional core support the club wouldnt exist. So forgive me if I treat the "don't expect me to put in a bit" with the disdain it deserves."

Disdain - in your opinion - and seriously you would not want to get into a comparison with me about 'core support. Etc. It is 'theoretically' possible of course that you are a fan that has shown more commitment than me over the last 40 years or so - but if that is the case you are one of the very few

Well said i have without doubt put my time in!!!!!!

No posts expect Sheikh Mansour to pour endless money in without supporters contributing. Not one, stop making up stories.

And if the top 5 rip off their supporters (I don't know how we compare and don't care as it's not relevant to me) and we compare to the top 5 then guess what? We're getting ripped off as well.

He's definitely a bigger fan than me. I've come over all inadequate.

The real question is: are you one of "the very few"?

Perhaps - perhaps not - but certainly a grateful fan with a glass half full sort of attitude

In my late 40s now and gave up my 2 season cards this year and cost wasn't actually my primary factor, it was down to mates jacking in due to cost plus fed up of SKY telling me when I should attend games. Week games and Sundays should not be the majority of home games but sadly they are.. Add the cost factor and the way I generally feel about the running of the game plus the way football fans are treated (guess my age playing a part here) and the pub stool and sofa don't seem such a compromise.
I will still attend games but cherry pick which ones we go to.
