It's a mystery why Argentina has not developed into a prosperous and stable country, it's got everything.

As one mexican told me they speak Spanish with an Italian accent

Argentina was once very prosperous, in the 1960s it had a similar GDP per capita to Italy / Austria and probably 2-3 times higher than most South American countries.

I think lack of economic diversity and bad economic decisions lead to incredible inflation and the eventual military dictatorships. Apparently they had 5000% inflation at one point. I think ever since they have just been trying to recover from this disaster of a time but they are stuck between a rock and a hard place on how to resolve it.

This new guy looks to be a lunatic though so not sure things will improve, but considering how bad it already was it maybe isnt a surprise, they are desperate.

Seems like the kind of stable, calm, logical type with which you would want to entrust the fate of millions of people. No doubt he will carefully enact a slew of evidence-based policies with the interests of the people at heart.

Can only see it ending well.
