Arsenal FA Cup SF Post-Match Thread

Thing is mate, I don’t think with Pep we will ever be dominated. We will always have a fair share of the ball whoever we play. We are increasingly getting out thought though. Maybe I misread your post but I got the impression you thought the defeats were all down to us.

Fair enough mate. No team has a god given right to win a game of football but when, as we have done so many times this year, a team just don’t turn up and everyone can see from 10 minutes in what’s going to happen we only have ourselves to blame.

Only one team yesterday deserved to win and that was arsenal. Despite that, we really didn’t show up yesterday and made life easy for them

And now we turn on Kev, and not only that, we’re now making out as if he’s an inconsistent player.

Never read so much rubbish.

He’s the best midfielder in the world bar none.

Are you a politician? I’m not turning on Kev he’s our best player by far but anyone who doesn’t see he has plenty of off days when his amazing passes are well off radar is deluded. He’s not a player in the style of prime Yaya or Silva who’d rarely give the ball away because he takes so many chances with his passing.

We used to have silva conducting, fern holding and fast direct wingers going to the line. The amount of tap ins sterling and sane scored Was unreal combine this with full backs over laping and we took teams apart with 4-5 accurate passes. Can’t remember when we decided to change this but we need to get back to that direct team. We have replaced it with slow passing and 2-3 conductors all trying the same pass. We need pace and power on the wings to create the space for Kev to do his thing. Player positioning is all over the place at the min.

with 10/11 behind the ball where do the wingers get behind ? Teams sit specifically to stop that

A baffling and bewildering performance.
After the CAS verdict I was expecting all guns blazing and a great attitude and desire.
Pep and the players looked downbeat, moody and beaten before we got on the pitch.
It was almost as if we lost the court case on monday.
Exactly how I feel,

Yesterday showed the weakness the way we use wind forwards, when we played with Raz and Leroy we attacked at pace and it didn't matter what anyone did they couldn't stop it.

Since we have moved to an inverted winger system there has been far too many games where they run out of ideas and just lump crosses into the box, Norwich at the start of the season being a big example. I honestly can't wait for Ferran Torres (assuming he signs) because he's almost a hybrid of Leroy and Mahrez in that he has pace to drive round the outside yet is completely comfortable cuming instide, the fact that he is 2 footed and can play both sides means we become less predictable.

We should also be adding a more rounded forward to the team someone like Jovic who will be available and is 6ft tall and a good footballer.

Hopefully all the people who think Jesus should be our main striker in the future will now think twice as he is nowhere the level of kun. And same with mendy aswell he is fucking shit and we will struggle to recoup £20 mill on him . Gundo should not wear our shirt again but I’m afraid he ain’t going nowhere. They were all bad but you can forgive certain players for a bad game. I worry for the Madrid game
gundo not done a carrot since he signed his new contract.

talk shite this morning, Pep, " we wasn't up for it ". f.f,s

Haven’t seen that, only ‘we weren’t ready enough’. Admit that we coached and played poorly during the game, but avoid using phrases such as ‘up for it’ or ‘ready enough’. Sends entirely the wrong signal.

Looked liked the Mancini Wigan game where the team just didnt want to play for him.

The season's been littered with performances like this. We're fine when things go our way but if we go a goal down our heads drop and we don't look like getting back in the game. We seem to have lost a bit of hunger which is linked to a lack of real leadership in the squad since Kompany went.

Pathetic is the only word to describe that. We never looked up for it, and were just pedestrian for 90 minutes.

Only positive for me was Garcia, besides that fuck all else.

Confirms what we all knew we needed in this transfer window. A quality left back is desperately needed. Have hoped and hoped Mendy would come good, but I think it's last him now. A centre half, a left back, a winger & a striker are a must this window to speed up the rejuvenation of the squad. And get Bernardo right as well.
spot on,

If we don’t score first then results like this will keep happening , from the off last night we struggled to create anything at all.Soak it up and take the odd chance has caught us out all season , Mendy is terrible tbh, what does he bring to the team at all ? Gundogan ? Defensively we are all over the show against any opposition that has a go, it wouldn’t have shocked me at all if Bournemouth had equalised the other night.

We urgently need a top drawer defensive left back and a CB as a priority

Too much rotation and the best players lose their sharpness.
That's why Guardiola's philosophy is more suited to league football, which allows for the odd slip-up.

Trying to walk the ball into the net at a conservative pace when you are playing against 9 determined defenders, is not going to work. Nor is pumping aimless high balls into the for 90-minutes, many of which are delivered inaccurately and go sailing over.
Pep was out-thought here and his stubborness to adopt a different strategy is costly; still wouldn’t be without him though!
Let’s get the right kind of player in, not just another 12-month superstar whom then fails to deliver and we can’t get rid of because of their high wages. We own 9 clubs for heaven’s sake and have access to over 1000 players apparently. Why do we need to spend £150m!?
Hate to say it, but the Liverpool model has been far more successful and on a very low net spend. There, i’ve said it. :-/
