Arsenal fans celebrations.....

We are above you in the league and how we got there we do not really care we have paid for it down the years in our eyes.
You do not have a divine right to be above us in the league or any other team for that matter.
Your teams failings will not have nothing to do with any success we might have in the future.
If we go out and spend another 100 million in the summer no amount of your managers spoutings about it will change anything and despite his lofty opinion it has nothing to do with him.

You are typical of the arsenal fans that come on here looking at other teams success instead of looking at your own failings,an example being ealier in the year it was a popular view that the only reason spurs were above you in the league was because of adebayor and not because at the time you was playing shite.

lol, you could do, but first you'd have to develop a track record of developing starlets into big players. So far your score on that level is 0 over the last 45 years unless you want to count Joey Barton and SWP.

That's funny since Wenger was quite persistent in his tapping up for SWP (who eventually went to Chelsea for £21million) and Micah Richards (current value approaching £20million). Sturridge is another one who is currently one of the better young English players.

Harte, 650k to 40million.

Personally, I think we should cut out the middleman and poach all Arsenal's best players directly from Southampton. At least they'd probably appreciate the money.

Before the Premiership became a moneypot thats how clubs built successful sides. Our league winning sides in 89 and 91 contained 8 youth products (Adams,Davis,Thomas,Rocastle,Merson,Hayes,Quinn,O'Leary). Even United's dynasty was based on good youth development, but keep convincing yourselves football was dominated by an evil cartel before knights in shining armour like Abramovich and Mansour rescued it.

Can you name out of the starting 11 yesterday how mnay came through your youth ranks
Infact how many of your current first team squad have come through.

Lets see who's quicker with google

Edit
with my limited knowlege of you squad it's not looking good only 6 starlets in that squad list of 33

Edit .
A big fat one started the game yesterday. That's some devolopment you've got going on there

I like the thought that developing starlets constitutes turning a £10m 16yr old into a £6m 22yr old. And selling on the likes of djourou, denilson, vela et al for fuck all when they were once quite good.

What's interesting on this thread is that a few Arsenal fans have come on, thrown accusations around like confetti and whenever they've been hit with counter-attacks they've chosen their battles carefully and ignored many, if not most, of the arguments that have come their way.

Like the rags, they appear to be have carefully constructed this myth that they have always been this big club, always been fair, they've always played attractive, attacking football, all their players have come through the ranks and they've always had a huge fanbase that has remained fanatically loyal even during the lean years (e.g seven on the run without a trophy. Wow, imagine if we'd been that unlucky!).

Sadly for these 'revisionists', some of us can remember The Arsenal of old and so, ignoring the whys and wherefore of how they unfairly manipulated their way into the top flight when they shouldn't have been there, joined the G18, George Graham and his bungs, "Boring, boring Arsenal", winning the League with droll 1-0 wins, the dismal sight of Graham Rix passing back to his 'keeper from his opponents' half on a regular basis, players bought on the cheap by Wenger from France, the plunder of Southampton FC, and various large donations over the years by wealthy benefactors, let's look at their "loyal" support.

Just as The Swamp has allegedly been packed to the rafters every week, so has The Emirates. To be fair, The Emirates has been, even if the Swamp hasn't, but that's another story inextricably linked with Sky, the Greed League and unprecedented success.

But before all this, Arsenal were a reasonably successful club, picking up honours in most decades. Their 'crowds', however, were not so great when I first started going to away games in the 1980s. It was an interesting decade in that we were relegated several times and, of course, we didn't win a trophy of any kind, while they won the League Cup in 1987 and the League in 1989.

In that particular decade (from 1979/80 until 1988/89) we were both in the same division in six seasons. Of those six seasons, they had the higher average in just one season: 1987 when they won the Littlewoods Cup. In the other five seasons, we had a higher average and, remember that Highbury (still my favourite ground) was just about the cheapest ground in London; the reverse of modern day Arsenal.

In 1989/90 they also had a higher average than us: for only the second time in 11 seasons: they'd just won the League and we'd just been promoted:

I hear "classy" Arsenal are raiding Southampton yet again for Luke Shaw, another player from a superior academy to Arsenal's own vaunted one. "Classy" Arsenal pressure and lure youngsters away in large part due to (gasp!) financial superiority that has prevented Southampton from keeping the likes of Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain, players who could easily have helped them into the Premier League earlier.

Don't talk to us about class while your "classy" fans go around Twitter wishing plane crashes on Kompany and threatening to butcher Samir Nasri's family. You have one of the most vile, obscene, and hateful sets of supporters, and when things aren't going your way no one whinges more (with the possible exception of Liverpool).

"Spend sam facking maney!"

We buy them with money we earned rather than handouts.
Err, not quite. If we're talking about benefactors, you were a mid-table fairly skint club in the mid 1990's until Danny Fiszman pumped in £50m to fund player purchases. Your recent fortunes started then and that's what allowed you to get 3 PL titles. £50m in 1994 is about the same as £400m now so you have no moral high ground I'm afraid. Fiszman did for you EXACTLY what the Sheikh is doing for us.

Touché!
