Arsenal (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Immediately posted this in the match day thread after our winner, but when Donna faked the throw to Marc which created the space to launch it to Nico, I was completely convinced we were scoring from that phase of play. Like I really knew we would score, so much so, I barely celebrated when we did.

Anyone else ever had this experience watching us over the years?

It was a lovely feeling albeit I felt a little robbed once it sunk in.
I can pretty much tell when we’re going to score. Still went bananas though :)

I've listened to quiet a few whinging cockneys on YouTube crying about this game and about how they were so great but Missed their chances ...the accents are grating I've decided I even prefer the stupid Australian accent rather than whinging cockneys lol

I love a cockney accent on a bird but it’s shit on a fella.

The quality of our goals was outstanding.

I loved that game. Very tense. Intense atmosphere and the singing continued right back into Manchester. I didn't see any Gooners but I heard them talking at Piccadilly about City players celebrations being out of order. City players and Guardiola always do a post-match lap of honour only most fans have left the stadium, and never see it.

What a game, it had absolutely everything. Fantastic play, mistakes, a bit of luck, immense effort, great atmosphere and the usual shit show by Taylor and var.

That was a game we HAD to win and we did it. We could make all the noises we liked pre game about a draw not being a bad result but trust me it would have been. Arsenal would have been given a huge psychological boost if they would have left the Etihad still six points clear. It would have meant everything was still in their own hands and after that monumental effort out there our players would have felt deflated. Simple as that. I still think we have to win all our games because i think they will win all theirs. The return of Eze and Odegaard makes them a better team with more of a goal threat. In spite of them losing this game i think the manner in which they played will actually give them a lift. Not many teams will stop them if they replicate that form.

Back to the game. We will obviously never know now but if Donnarumma hadn't made that horrendous fuck up just ninety seconds after we scored i think we might have won the game more comfortably. We were on top, had scored and i looked at their players as they walked back to kick off and the belief was already draining out of them. Then suddenly from nothing they're back in the game and it understandably took the wind out of our sails for a bit.

The whole team played well i thought aside from Semenyo who i thought was disappointing. His first touch was awful, he rarely got his crosses in and i have absolutely no idea what he had on his feet because he looked like a kid learning to ice skate for the first time on occasion. He was played into two great positions and fluffed his lines both times.

Haaland, O'Reilly, Rodri and above all Bernardo were immense. What a performance by the little man, he was absolutely everywhere, a real captain's performance, leading by example with an insane spirit not to be beaten. How do you replace what he brings to the team? We are really going to miss him, i wish he'd do one more year to complete the ten.

On to Taylor and var. I said it was a shit show but perhaps that was a bit unkind. On the whole i thought he reffed it quite well while still favouring Arsenal. How he didn't give a foul when Gabriel ripped the shirt off Haalands back is beyond me. He should have been booked for that too and he let that thug get away with far too much. Irrespective of whether the headbutt was a sending off ( I think it was, Haaland was punished for being too honest and not going down ) he should have easily accumulated two yellows in the game and walked anyway.

All in all a great day, a game worthy of the two top teams in the division. It's games like this that remind you of why you fell in love with football, it had everything and the icing on the cake was we got the win. Superb.

Why are the Goons such bad losers , their entitlement is laughable , no title for 25 years , never won a Champs league , fans who boo their own team when they are top of the league , they are a feckless football club and fan base.
OK they played well yesterday , great , but you didnt achieve anything because we were easily better , they were not unlucky they were profligate , wasted chances against two great centre backs who defended far better than "the best defence in the world".
They are a club built on myths and soundbites with no substance , they can have their hard luck stories , we will take the three trophies on offer.

Also he was complaining about Citys post match celebration saying it was premature.

Rooney is awful as a pundit. Awful, just ..nil. I have no idea how he managed to actually play football at top level.

The celebration comments really riled me. When you win such a hugely important game of course you're going to celebrate. How the fuck he's got that gig is beyond me.

Missed the game as we’re on a boys golf trip to Spain but I caught MOTD last night.. possibly just the edit but it looked like we were very lucky at the end not to concede.. but hey, they should have been down to 10 anyway so fuck ‘em
You should no better than trust highlights of the Rag infested BBC , they made the sick swan at the swamp look like a cliffhanger.

Amazing vision by Donna to release O'Reilly to set up our winning goal. If that late header been on target it looked like he had it covered.
yes true Donna was in the way of the header if it was a touch lower, but the bigger truth is that header should have been put away by any striker in the top 5 divisions, he had the entire goal to aim for, not just a few inches lower. He missed and that was amazing, but it was still a let-off. So happy with the result yesterday.

It's been a fucking long season, but it has properly come to the boil. Thought we were better than them in all aspects of the game yesterday with the exception of the ten minutes after their equaliser. Tactically, I thought the player did a really good job at problem solving on the pitch and dealing with Arsenal's press. Donnarumma recovered from his mistake like a champion, which was important.

Hard to single out individuals, but Erling, Bernardo, NOR, Doku, Khusa all could've been MOTM for me. It's in our hands now. Got a feeling it'll come down to how we deal with Bournemouth away. Win there and we'll win the title. IMO Arsenal will not win all their remaining games.

Couldn't watch the game live so can't offer too much insight BUT I love to see how much Haaland enjoys winding Gabriel up. In fact just the total distaste this team have for Arsenal is fun to watch

At this level you shouldn’t have up worry about throwing it back to the keeper. Wasn’t Nunes fault. Donna took a bad touch and he is such a big guy he’s always going to take that fraction longer swinging those long legs. Plus it was excellent closing down by Havertz. It might alert teams to press us more after that.
I never said it was Nunes fault.
Its down to Donnarumas ability on the ball.
The point I am trying to make is that Donnarumma is currently Peps choice of keeper and is as opposite to Ederson with his kicking skills as is possible.
He cannot be used in the same way as Ederson was. You are spot on in opposition teams closing him down.
When Ederson got thd ball at his feet, I was waiting to see what he would do.
Its the same now with Donnarumma but in a bad way.
There are very few current PL keepers good with their feet.
