Arsenal (H) | Post Match Thread

Slightly off topic but did anyone else get stuck in the Kingsway debacle at Parrs Wood last night? I'm assuming a rag is the head of Manchester city council Road works planning office. They decided to close the road going out of Manchester for resurfacing at pretty much the exact same time the match ended. It was utter carnage, no warning signs before hand either, just all the traffic hitting a road closed sign and then having to how through Cheadle. Why they couldn't have waited an hour or two longer is astonishing.
Just a bit of nostalgia for the Cheadle Crawl.

The opionion out there in mediah land was that Arsenal folded.
What a load of rubbish. Arsenal played well. The press they applied was the best I have seen this season against City. Lesser teams would have folded under that pressure.
The problem for Arsenal is City have the best defence that we have had in the modern era and can pass their way out of the press with devastating counter attacks. Worse for our opponents, City are now equally comfortable using the press AND the alternate paradigm of defence/counter attack AND can move between them at will like a well oiled machine AND with Haaland and KDB they have the sharpest tools in the box to exploit the counter attack.
That was Arsenal's problem, and they need an alternative strategy to move onto the next level. To match City, Arsenal need to do the same. I've been impressed with Arteta since he rocked up at Arsenal and I'm sure he will get this right in a year or two - and yes it takes time to perfect.
Incidently, another tweak was exposed by KDB in his post match TV interview with the BBC - with our wide players mainly playing with their backs to Arsenal defenders and holding the ball up to play it back to Rodri or Gundogan or Stones as they came forward in support to exploit breaks down the cenre by Kev and Eerling either along the ground or in the air.

Took my 10 year old daughter last night. Its about her 10th game. Shes a shy little thing and even v liverpool she sat rooted to her seat when we scored.
Not last night!! When KDB bagged that first she was out of her seat jumping up n down hugging me. Coulda cried. It was the night she ‘got it’.

Fuckin love City me
Can relate to this so much with my daughter. Here's to many more happy memories with them!

One thing I noticed during the game was that on 2-3 occasions, a City player seemed to start a fight for no particular reason, and every single one of his teammates would come running to support him.

It was obviously orchestrated to get into Arsenal's faces, and take them away from their huddles and cheerleading crowd gestures.

Partey got in between KDB & the ball & was kicked. It was the correct decision imho & I've no complaints.

I'd feel exactly the same if it were us in a similar situation.
I've watched it umpteen times. He goes "over the ball" and from one angle it looks like he catches Kev before he "plants his foot", on the other he gets his foot on the ground and Kev kicks him. It was still a "lunge" off the ground so no control. I doubt VAR would have overturned a penalty, but with VAR who knows?

I saw it different mate. Partey got their first, Kev kicked him. It's an Arsenal free kick.

If it were the other way around involving Rodri being kicked by Odegaard, we'd be in uproar if that had cost us a penalty...
