Arsenal "invincibles" or Chelsea 04-05?

If you take Shearer from his best days, without current physical and tactical preparation, he would be out of his depth in current football. Same with Viera or Bergkamp. They were outstanding players then.

And again, what did Arsenal do in the CL with those multiple great players? How many semis, finals and cups?
Even Raheem scored more goals than Bergkamp.
Good player but a flop in Italy.

Arsenal's team were excellent to watch but should have lost 4-5 of them games. They seemed to draw so many. They got rolled over in Europe pretty convincingly and crashed out of all domestic cups.

Chelsea were ruthless that season. There wasn't really any weakness. They barely conceded and they could get a goal without even looking like the would score. They were so much superior to Arsenal

He was a great player, imo, but you have to drop KDB to play him for City, and that ain't happening.
Play both! IMHO Bergkamp and KDB are both amazing players, I can see why some would pick one and some would pick the other. If you don't select Bergkamp over KDB (fair enough) he absolutely gets in ahead of Foden, it's not even close. Even the most blue of blue City fan isn't picking Foden ahead of Bergkamp so maybe you play him in the Foden role.

A midfield having both KDB and Bergkamp as the creative outlet is a genuinely terrifying prospect. Imagine then if you had both Henry and Haaland up front!

A 1-0 loss via an Anelka penalty is all that separates Chelsea from repeating the invincibles the very next season after Arsenal did it.

And a ball that is all but over the line but for a clearance by Johnnie that I still don't know how he got to is all that separates Liverpool from joining you and the Arsenal! And think of that for a second! if you think Arsenal are always going on about it, consider that we should have got the Nobel Prize for Saving Humanity from Scouse Gobbiness that year (2019).

(We got some other things, which were nice…)

Agree with you about Shearer. Not on Viera or Bergkamp. They would do just fine. They'd adapt to modern demands. I don't think Shearer could.
