Arsenal - Post match thread

One of the best posts by Chicago blue I've read.

I thought it was a disgraceful post personally. I've been a fan for 50 years as well and I exercised my option to leave at the final whistle. That doesn't make me or anyone else a plastic fan.

And as an exiled Manc himself (which I assume he is) then maybe he's been in the USA so long that he's forgotten that we Mancs are straightforward people who know when they've been short-changed and aren't afraid to make their feelings known. Do right by us and we'll do right by you.

We've not protested about MP's failings during games like many other fans would have. We may well have had a good moan on here but we've supported the team during games, which is as it should be.

The antennae of the club hierarchy should have been twitching furiously on Sunday and it should have been apparent that doing what they did wasn't going to be the wisest move. They really should have a channel to the fanbase who can be a sounding board for these things.

Even then, if they were determined to do something, it should have been done straight after the final whistle and properly announced. Something like "Please remain in your seats for 10 minutes as Manuel Pellegrini would like to make a farewell speech to you all."

But instead they just assumed everyone would hang around until they'd sorted themselves out, which seemingly took too long and led to many leaving who had intended to stay. But the majority voted with their feet and it's not for anyone else to claim it's an embarrassment or that those fans are "plastic". We don't need to prove our loyalty to anyone.

The main thing for me on Sunday was the booing when Bony come on. I think everyone knew it was the wrong decision, but to boo your own player is a disgrace no matter how bad things are.

I must admit, it just didn't occur to me to stay behind after the game. I left on the final whistle not out of protest or frustration over the result, it's just something I've never done at the end of the season anyway. I appreciate what Pellegrini has done for us and he's had our support over the last few seasons, he's heard the songs sung for him by the fans...Yes, the end was fairly unceremonious, but i'm sure he won't be crying himself to sleep about fans leaving at the end of the game.

agreed. should never boo a player. or the manager for that matter.

Drinking in the Summerbee bar after the match the crowd didn't seem that down, there was an air of "Oh well, that's City" nothing compared to the gloom after the Liverpool game. People were laughing and joking, talking bollocks, but I didn't get the impression anyone was thinking of throwing themselves in the canal.

Probably because it was totally predictable the way the season has gone. Most people got what they would have expected.

MP certainly won't give a fuck. He's got a tidy cash bonus an been stealing a wage off the club for years.
I wish he had gone after COC Final.

Just seen a video on YouTube about how disgraceful our fans were on Sunday. Can't be arsed to find it again, not worth it. Although, if you're a masochist, it's presented by a Scottish shit and an American shit.

Anyway, point is, why do fans of other clubs (even in different countries/ leagues) think they know better than fans of the club they're talking about?

Fair enough to make a passing comment but fuck knows why they'd get so worked up by it.

This.
The kids / women and uncle Tom Cobley could have done their stuff and Videos of successes shown.
It was so shambolic that the 30k who didn't leave immediately just drifted away.

Even last season when they did the lap of honour which wasn't as bad a season as this I thought they were arrogant in the extreme to think people would just wait around for 20 minutes while they fucked about behind the scenes etc. Whoever planned last weekends parade and lap of honour (i was long gone) must simply be a bit thick and whoever felt it a good idea to delay it

Just seen this on Arsenal mania. Priceless

The difference between us and City is exactly that, they've had success overnight, we've struggled, had terrible lows, watched seasons collapse with an injury or a young prospect suffer with a shattered leg. We've had the worst night in Paris. We've watched team after team humiliate us with huge scorelines. We've watched Birmingham pounce on a mistake in the last minutes. Watched our best players leave us. That's the sort of stuff that creates a strong fanbase and strengthens your love for a club.

City just can't replicate that with money. Love went into this club. They'll never have that.

Another twat fan born during the Premier League era

It's hard to deny we are becoming more and more privileged as a fanbase now(that's a trait City fans used to unanimously despise, supporting a club isn't just about reveling in success after success, we've had a bad season yes lets not lower our standards too much about it). It's not just the leaving early and making the club look bad doing an empty ceremony on sky sports while they comment about it, it's booing the players before they've even came on, booing the manager and calling him all sorts. We were the better team on Sunday easily for me and deserved a win, we didn't get it but Arsenal were hanging on at times and they are not normally that clinical to score from so few chances.

Those last 5 minutes when the ball goes out of play instead of busting a gut to get it back in play we saunter off without two fucks given to time being wasted. I counted 3 times it happened. We honestly couldn't give a fuck.
I total agree with you . At times we just walk to the ball and other times we rush. When its a vital game you would think the manager has said go out and play for the badge, club and the fans.. but recently to me the don't give a crap about anything.. what is it they say play to the final whistle.. They new what they were playing for but its as if they didn't care.

You're the same prick that was slagging the fans off before some had even left the ground on Sunday. Where the fuck were you?

Oh fuck off this is EXACTLY what I mean you fucking crybaby: "I pay my money I get to act like a fucking spoilt child throwing my toys out of my pram" Here's a thought don't fucking bother going at all then you prick let someone else have your season ticket next year you just don't get it, I don't give a flying fuck how much you pay or how long you've supported the club, there's plenty that have supporting LONGER and go to MORE games than you that aren't spitting their dummies out infact they are disgusted by you showing a sheer lack of class, you're slowly becoming a spectator rather than a supporter. You can get as aggressive as you like I will speak my mind my little friend don't you worry about that.

Yes of course they never spent any money.Their demise arrived when Chelsea had the chance to level the playing field and now we have joined in the dummy as well and truly been ejected.

So I was there, like I and many Blues have been for years of varying lengths, but because A) I support those who left before Pellegrini's speech & B) I've pulled you up on slagging off Blues when you weren't there, then I'm now supposed to fuck off and stay at home? Phenomenal logic...

You come in calling me a prick for having an opinion because I wasn't there(and no I wasn't having a go before anyone had left I wasn't even on the forum during the game, I posted when everyone was already discussing it get your facts right!), again deluded sense of privilege THAT's the logic(who are you to tell me or anyone else what they're allowed to say of what happened on Sunday?)read my edit I knew you'd come back with a lame strawman... there's many a bigger blue than you, spending far more than you who've been going longer than you who said the exact same thing... and you tell me this isn't you being over privileged? Bollocks put me on block for all I care I think it's disgrace the way some of you act: "Im a big time blue been supporting years go to every game" get over yourself, don't give abuse and expect to hide behind that kind of logic.
