Arsenal Post Match Thread.

Generally the passing was very average but having had some time to reflect, I think all the teams who had a lot of players away on international duty suffered this weekend. Obviously Chelsea's loss, our draw, United's draw, Liverpool won, but the Everton team was a semi youth team. Spurs were the only side who had a really good result, maybe because they're all much younger and recovered quicker, I don't know, but I do think the Intl. break was a form killer.
I think you may be right, and if you are, we can expect some "funny" results tomorrow and Wednesday again. I guess it is too much to hope for Everton to do anything.

He's not the same level as Silva as a number 10. Kevin show glimpses of brilliance, the ball for Sane's goal yesterday being a prime example; but he doesn't have then athleticism or physicality to play in midfield. I'd play him wide right instead of the very limited Rahim Sterling. For me nobody crosses a better ball in the whole of the premier league, and like a certain David Beckham, he doesn't need to beat his full back and get to the by-line to do it.
This.

With respect thats utter drivel and based on absolutely nothing but revisionism.

Must be the word of the day "revisionism"

With respect,, I'll form my own opinions and share them... it's what forums are for and based on my own version of the 1st amendment (humour me, just back from NYC)

Feel free to ignore my posts or disagree with them...

I haven't trawled through all 77 pages of this thread (yes, 77) but skimming over it and reading pages here and there I'm astonished, and not a little suspicious as to the identity of the posters, about the amounts of posts saying Pep is this, Pep is that. Not qualified by comments like "in this game he was caught short", "we could have done better, he should have made this substitution", no, just comments that make it sound as though Pep has somehow been "found out" in some kind of permanent way. Well fuck me sideways, you'd think we were not in the semi-final of the Cup and still on track to make top four in Pep's first season. In fact, you could pick quite a lot of posts off here, and if you didn't know the result, you'd definitely assume we lost. By two or three clear goals, at that. I've got annoyed in the past with people seeming to object to any kind of criticism of Pep, but some of the stuff on this thread is unbelievable. No, that's right, he didn't inherit a team like Barcelona or Bayern, not vaguely close, so yeah, he got some help there, and he's not a magician, but if anyone can build us into a team approaching their level, it's him, and nobody else on this planet. Keep some faith, for God's sake!

CLASSIC!!!

And, just another reason players have SO LITTLE RESPECT for referees! They KNOW that refs bottle big decisions, and get so frustrated during the heat of battle, is it any wonder they storm over to the ref when he bottles it?!

Video ref...would he have given it? Maybe, maybe not, but THREE PLAYERS KNOW IT WAS CLUMSY AND DELIBERATE, AND TOOK THE BALL AWAY FROM A PLAYER A FEW YEARDS FROM GOAL!!

Completely agree. When I read the thread last night, despite knowing the score, I thought we'd been relegated!

This.

Can't believe some of the crap on here. We just drew with Arsenal at their gaff. How quick some folk are to forget results like Preston at home in October 98, or York away a couple of months later. All right, not shy of 20 years ago, buy since then Lincoln, Macclesfield and York, who were in our division that season have all fallen out of the Football League since (although Lincoln could be back next year). Luton were in the Premier League that season, and look where they are now.

Get a grip!

I like the sentiments mate and I did that second and third division shit but this team is a bunch or mard arses who cost between the squad about £500 million.

You can't fool the fans mate when they aren't busting a gut for the club, Morrison and Horlock had twice the bollocks of KDB and a few others in the squad and earnt a pittance by today's standards .

It's not fucking good enough full stop.

My point was we could have gone that route, but we didn't.

I agree that our current crop don't often show the same passion as past players, but the game has moved on. I genuinely feel for the players that just missed out on the PL money (White, Lake Brightwell, Hinchcliffe, etc.). They did it the hard way; played fair; played well and earned their right to represent our club.

With all that in mind, you still have to look at the players. They are nowhere near good enough, bar a handful

I was happy with the team selection, I don't think there were many better options. The keeper is average at best and the less said about Clichy & Co the better

I think kit shows how far we have come that a draw to Arsenal is seen, by some, as a bad result. A defeat yesterday, after leading twice, would have been a disaster with Chelsea to play next so I can understand why we did n't go hell for leather towards the end

Arsenal were going into that game on the back of 4 defeats in 5 games in the prem. I thought it was a poor result especially given us scoring after 5 mins and just before half time. It wasn't unexpected though. It's been the story of our season and I think we can expect more of the same for the rest of the season. Their crowd were not up for it either. It was deathly quiet. We just don't seem to have what it takes to get the results against the better sides and that has been the most disappointing aspect of this season.

Take your point about the defenders but Pep decided to keep all four fullbacks despite none of them being good enough. He's got some calls massively wrong this season.

Do you not think it's possible he expected a few upgrades to be in place by the time he arrived? Personally i find it V unlikely that he agreed to start this season with those 4 in place

I'm getting more enjoyment these days watching the eds lads and under 18's , lads like Diaz , Foden show much more passion than first team players.

They are thrashing stoke 9-2 on aggragate in tonight's second league semi on itv4.

Some really good footballers at the club.

We are in the here and now after a Billion £ investment.

We should've done more to beat a poorer arse side that were destroyed by Munchen 10-2 !!

If we aspire to be the All Blacks of football we have to develop a ruthless, relentless, remorseless killer instinct & stop harking back to Lincoln & Wrexham.

It's all changed mate.

But we will have to be patient, for now. We know where our deficiencies are and i'm sure Pep does.
But there's not a lot anyone can do, until the end of the season. I still think a lot of yesterday
was down to the international break. Chelsea played alright, but they missed that cutting edge.
Not quite at the ball. The only side i watch that looked half decent this weekend, was Liverpool.
