Re: Wenger : the fiasco ?

It also didn't help his cause in getting new players in with the Fabregas and Nasri deals taking so long to go through, another thing that was out of Wenger hands which hindered him with negotiating his own deals.

Whilst I agree that the reluctance to spend isn't entirely down to Wenger, I'm not having that. Arsenal and Wenger knew Fabregas was going and Nasri was almost certainly following suit so what was stopping them wrapping up deals for players before those 2 finally went through the exit door? Arsenal aren't exactly a Plymouth Argyle where they're struggling to pay all sorts of bills and bringing in the likes of Mata while paying the wages of Fabregas and Nasri for another few weeks was hardly going to be the end of the world for them.

Not doing the bulk of their incoming transfer business until Fabregas and Nasri had officially left was a piss-poor way of doing things and was way below the standard of professionalism you'd expect from a club of the size and stature of Arsenal FC and it was a policy that no doubt saw them miss out on some quality targets. Now I'm not sure who is to blame for the way they went about things but my guess is that it was a combination of the Arsenal board and Wenger himself.

The Fab deal was done pre-season and it was always going through but the Nasri deal was a bit differant.

Wenger wanted to hold on to Nasri and he nearly got his wish as things nearly collapsed last minute.

That's why i said they need to review the wage cap system, they'll struggle to attract world class players with the system they have in place.

They either want to keep up with the Joneses or not?

i think wenger can be our coach.our team is build for him unlike mourinho.
this is in case mancini is by any means out.mourinho will not be able to use our squad.
the other manager our team suits is pep guardiola

Looks like he'll miss our game in December perhaps, his injury keeps getting prolonged, why didn't Arsenal identify the need for surgery ages ago when he was sidelined?

Arsenal always seem to have a higher than average number of players crocked. Good news if he's still out when they come to us. I think Wenger has lost the plot and it could cost them dear this season.

This may have already been mentioned, but has anyone noticed that the contracts of Van Persie, Walcott, Arshavin and Vermaelen all expire in 2013? If they have a disappointing finish this season it's going to be very hard to convince those players to sign new contracts.

And we already know what Arsenal's policy re: selling players with a year left versus losing them on a free transfer is...

Walcott injured again today. Interesting about the contracts all expiring at the same time. Can't see us going after any of those players but someone will be having a word in their ear I'm sure. Would take Wilshere though.

I think all will stay with Arsenal and they will sort out the contracts of the players they want to hold on this season. Not too sure Arshavin will get a new contract but the other 3 will. I wouldnt expect Walcott to be on a lot of money but to hold onto the other 2 they will need to up there wages to compete with other teams.
