Of course Arsenal have a chance, just as much as us if you ask me.

Out of us, Chelsea and them, I would argue we have the hardest set of fixtures to play, away to Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Everton and yoonited plus home to Chelsea.

I actually think Chelsea will win it.

I think a lot will depend on whether we beat Chelsea. As poor as United have been this season they will go to Chelsea thinking they can get something, even if it is a point. If they do get something and we get something at Spurs (i think we will beat them) then we go into the Chelsea game knowing a win could take us 6 points clear of them then that is a decent margin going into our away games at Arsenal/United/Everton/Liverpool.

All ifs and buts, but thats football. The squad that can keep away from injuries in the best way will win it imo.

Pretty much my thinking. We have the best squad, but that doesn't do us a lot of good if all our best players are injured. I'm no longer convinced Arsenal are going to collapse, but they've got two very good teams to get past if they want to win it.

at this point its pretty obvious that all the 3 teams have 2 very good teams to get past, not just arsenal.

have to say I have been surprised with arsenal this season, as we all know they do tend to start well and then fade away. Still a long way to go but they are grinding out the results against the lower and mid table teams, but as stated above it will come down to the top of the table clashes.

arsenal still have a tendency to get beat in these games which make the difference

The oft quoted view that Arsenal fade in the second half of the season is a canard.

Arsenal were the most consistent team in 2013 gaining more points than any other team and especially at the back end of the 2012-2013 season with a hugely impressive winning run to yet again secure 4th spot despite their poor start to the season. Similarly, in 2011-2012.

Now I'm not saying they will win the PL this season, but wrong to assume they will collapse especially when that view is based upon such a demonstrable fallacy.

-- Wed Jan 15, 2014 8:49 pm --

PS

I hate lazy predictions based upon the assumption that past performance is somehow a good guide to future outcomes.

None of us knows how the season will turn out but predictions based upon the perceived relative strengths of the teams involved is likely a better guide than past performance, meaning City and Chelsea are deservedly favourites for the title.

exactly, and as you say it wasn't just once but twice we put runs like that together in the 2nd half of the season to finish 4th.

i don't think any team has shown as much consistancy as us in beating the smaller teams this season.

if we can marry that up with a couple of good results against the top sides we'll have a great chance.

i think we need to beat liverpool at anfield which won't be easy but our record is pretty good there, at least draw with city and draw with chelsea.

whilst you would have a good case for saying city have a better and stronger squad, i really don't get it about chelsea.

granted they have a trio of brilliant players (oscar/mata/hazard) but beyond that what do they have that makes them MUCH BETTER then arsenal? (don't get me wrong im not saying beyond those 3 they have nothing, they still have a very very good team and squad.

i'd say between chelsea and arsenal theres not much if hardly anything in it.

Very surprised arsenal haven't faded away. They are having a great season and you would have to be crazy to rule them out at this stage.

I think it's a three horse race but 2 horses are better off in the weights.

You managers latest comments suggest he's given up already.
