Ozil is better than Silva. Best creative midfielder out there.

Nooooo....

Don't talk about Spanish Dave in that way :(
It's the truth. And if we want to be really harsh Silva hasn't strung together a good few games for a while.

He had a bad season last year, but he'll come good again this season.

I hope....

Great signing. The Tarquins are masturbating on Talk Shite for the first time in years.

Superb signing. That's like having two Silva's on one team! The creativity output will be immense.

I can see it already, Cazorla on the left to pass on his strong foot, Ozil to do the same on the right, behind Walcott and Giroud?

Holy fuck, what a year it will be for the premier league. Delighted for Arsenal fans, they truly deserve a signing of this calibre.

Not all Arsenal fans are like this.

They do deserve a signing like this. They don't ever get to experience a big signing; for all their years of spending nowt, they finally do. About time L'Arse made a statement.

if ozil scores past us will you be saying this? hate every other team and i hope we smash everyone every match, its kill or be killed.

Great signing for Arsenal and it changes everything. Literally have the best player in the league now. Will be interesting to see how he settles, but if he emulates his Madrid form it changes everything. Suddenly from looking like going out in the CL group stage, they are as good as anybody in the competition. If Ozil can adapt quickly then this signing means they can win any of the major trophies. They still lack squad depth though and have never been lucky with injuries.

We don't have a player who can provide backup to Giroud/allow him to be rested. If Walcott plays up front we are short on the right wing due to Chamberlain's injury. Poldolski is out and I'm not really convinced by him as a lone striker anyway. I really doubt Sanogo is ready to start games in the league. The final option is Bendtner who might be a decent enough squad player if he focused on football, although ideally he would be no where near the squad at the moment.

Flamini should prove to be a good utility player as he can cover the full back positions and the midfield. Once Arteta, Poldolski, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Vermaelen are fit, the squad should be fine until January where hopefully a striker will come in.

In a 4-2-3-1 the role of the lone striker can be different. For instance let's say the way Bayern played last year. At the moment the squad is weak due to injuries and the really hard CL group may take it's toll. In 4-2-3-1 with the front 4 rotating Podolski can do a job up front. I think Bendtner is also a lot better than many Arsenal fans give him credit for. He is not as good as he thinks he is, but is a true beast in the air. Put crosses in for him and he will beat virtually every centre back in the Premiership. Disappointed we did not get him. I think more than the squad depth the lack of winning, many injury prone players and the hard CL group are going to cause Arsenal the most problems.

Was Ozil a free signing? What, no? Forty how much? Why are Arsenal trying to "buy fourth place"? I thought a proper team doesn't buy success?

I agree that Bendtner is a decent enough player, he showed that when he got a run in the team. He has potential but he needs to accept his place as a squad player in order to be of any use.

The plus point is that Cazorla, Ozil and Walcott will make it a lot easier for whatever striker is playing in front of them.

Yes they've bought a great player. But creative midfield isn't their weak spot. They still need a great keeper, centre half and striker

-- Tue Sep 03, 2013 2:07 am --

Yes they've bought a great player. But creative midfield isn't their weak spot. We got Viviano on loan as a backup keeper. Since he has come back into the team after being dropped for a period, Szczesny has been very good and I am not too worried about having him as first choice keeper, especially as he now has some competition.

Koscielny and Mertesacker have formed a great partnership over the last year and there aren't too many teams who have better 3rd and 4th choice centre backs than Vermaelen and Sagna.

A world class player like Ozil can't really be passed up and he will lift all areas of the team.

The one problem I see with Ozil is his engine. He was barely able to finish a game in Madrid and Premier League is much, much faster. Madrid plays fast football though, it would be interesting to see if he'd be capable to deal with PL pace.

Anyway, top signing for Arsenal, Wenger willget Piers Morgan of his back for some time, lol

World class signing without a doubt.

Arsenal are still weak at the back but the creativity from midfield just got ramped up to a new level.
