The thing is with Whinger's "transfer net spend acomplishments" is it would be far more impressive if he hadn't achieved such a low spend by selling all his best players of the last 7 or so years to acquire slightly worse, or average players which has slowly seen their decline to 4th place only and 1 cup win in 9 years.

On one hand he's a "genius", in my opinion he is so for making everyone think that finishing 4th every year is a great achievement coming from winning titles and cups on a more regular basis. How they have lowered standards over the last decade.

While I think he's done a good job keeping Arsenal in the top 4 with one of the lowest net spends in the league, what often gets overlooked is that Arsenal's wage bill has been consistently amongst the top 3 or 4 in the league during that time. In general, there's as much a correlation between wage bill and league position as there is between spending and league position.

Nike are trying to cash in before Puma take over. It's not really an FA cup shirt is it. Most I know won't be buying as its an obvious quick money grab by Nike.

I find all talk about our season ticket prices amusing. I don't get one because I don't have that kind of money for 4 season tkts for a family, so I go away a lot. Some on here obviously have inside knowledge of the boards workings but as far as is known, most of the money they make is stupidly kept in the bank and not spent on the team.

The summer will be a huge test for the board and manager. As has been published in most journals they have £120million pound surplus in the bank. Now if that money is used to buy grade A players then most will swallow the ticket prices. While they are at it,they could purchase new medical staff.

Don't get the hate for arsenal on here,if it's the manager and his FFP musings then fair enough but who cares what the manger of another club says about you. Unless its personal like that Portuguese w**ker in chavford bridge.

If its the Adebayor thing, then remember this after just 1 good season that word censored was taking the p*ss and so his final season we hated him because he got his rise and became a useless lazy word censored.....sound familiar.

Most gooners have never had a problem with what City are doing. We actually wonder why we have two multi billionaires jointly owning the club and still loan sh*te like Kim Kallstrom and have no marquee striker.

You've bought quite a few of our players but unlike Barca there was a bit of respect between clubs. The banter when we play you away is on the whole alright.

Anyway said my piece. I'm sure one or two will still just call me a tarquin and leave it at that.

They've actually released a special kit to celebrate winning the FA Cup and celebrate 20 years with Nike... Seriously, when did they become so small time? Also has to be stated, it's possibly the ugliest kit in the history of football

Wow it's hard to figure out what's going on with that shirt. Even harder to figure out how anyone could have though that design would be a good idea. And considering that it's on the arsenal website you have to believe that it's legit. You could definitely interpret it as smalltime but it looks to me like just another way of making a little cash, they saw an opportunity to put out another kit which some fans would buy and that's more revenue for the club. Which seems fine to me, no way I would buy it, but if it's good for the club why not? You've got to remember it's Arsenal, we're as famed for our financial exploits as we are for what goes on on the pitch.

I was going to post that its obviously a piss-take, then read your post. Looks like I'm wrong again.

I see what you're saying about 'it makes money', and lets face it, nobody is being made to buy it, but at the same time, you can't tell me they couldn't have come up with something better? It is hideous.

So it's for real then? Christ.

I used to quite like Arsenal until a few years ago, they were an entertaining team to watch. I didn't care if Arsenal revolved in the virtuous circle of CL -> earn silly money -> big money signings -> therefore get top 4 -> back to CL etc. that was just how the league was. It was what the PL had been set up for. It might as well be Arsenal in there if it couldn't be us.

Then we got money.

Everything changed. There were hoards of gooners on here spitting bile, and I'd swear Wenger was one of them. Not that he needed to, he was doing it in the press. I took a complete dislike to Arsenal. Wenger has kept up his vendetta, and many gooners are with him on this. However, I have to admit that the Arsenal fans that have been on here over the last couple of seasons (with one or two exceptions) have restored some of my faith that maybe, just maybe, they aren't all twats.

As for that knob Adebayor, he's Spurs problem now so lets all move on.

Hope that answers your question, you tarquin.

Also, there is that infamous letter. Quite the most heinously foul episode of collective, naked greed and self-interest in the history of football. This isn't about pegging us back for a season or so, this about trying to consign us and every other club outside the cartel to non-competitive oblivion for ever. That wasn't Wenger it was your entire disgusting club along with those other odious shithouses United, Liverpool and, hilariously, but presumably bouyed by the £80m they'd just trousered for Bale, Spurs. We may have escaped your attempts for now and I sincerely hope we one day get the chance to do the same for you, but, in the meantime, the likes of Villa, Everton, Southampton etc stand no chance of getting into the top 4. You should hang your heads in shame.

you'll justify anything you lot, you're like Robin Hood's arch-nemesis.

I have to admit my handle on the legend of Robin hood is very weak, but wouldn't we be his best friend then? Or am I absolutely wrong?

Robin Hood, steals from the rich and gives to the poor. Your team is squeezing every penny they can out of your fan base to put into their own coffers, you work it out.

Oh of course I see now, I was only looking at that from the perspective of 'justifying anything', but that makes sense. Yeah we're the anti-Robin Hood, but that's far more common, isn't it?

EDIT: Perhaps it's different for me as an overseas fan, but I find this whole thing about 'squeezing fans' a little overblown. Arsenal's ticket prices are the amongst highest in the business, but the Emirates is still nearly full week in week out (though you'd hardly tell by the noise level). From a purely economic perspective that suggests the club isn't charging too much. Of course people have certain ideas about how things should be priced, and it's sad that a section of fans become priced out of watching their team live every week, but at the end of the day individuals need to make their own decisions. If the club decide that such high ticket prices are viable, or indeed even necessary, then it's down to each fan to decide whether it's still worth it for them to attend, or if they'd rather save that cash and watch the match on TV instead. I know that for many people football fandom is not a conscious decision and you can't help but become deeply invested in the team you support, but at the end of the day no one is putting a gun to your head and forcing you buy the ticket, or the kit for that matter. If it's too expensive for you, don't do it. You can still follow your team on TV. It may seem harsh or unreasonable, but I don't think it can be considered evil. Of course this is an easier argument to make as a fan who's never had the chance to actually attend a live match at the Emirates, and couldn't dream of having a season ticket, but there's my two cents.

As an aside though, it's completely reasonable to woman about ticket prices the money doesn't then get invested into the team, as looked the case in the recent past. But after Ozil, the signs on that front look more encouraging.

C'mon guys, get facts right before putting the boot in. Nike commissioned 1 top, to commemorate the end of their 20 year sponsorship with us. THE SHIRT IS NOT FOR SALE.

Limited edition framed PHOTOGRAPHIC PRINTS of the top, are on sale at Nike Phenomenal House, with the proceeds going to The Arsenal Charity Foundation.
