If Koscielny is out then Mertesacker who is back now will partner Chambers next weekend against palace.
I have been really impressed with debuchy this pre season. I was worried about him replacing Sagna who I rate highly but he seems to give us an assurance that the sometimes erratic Sagna lacked.
As for the season ,I think we are getting closer to the top 2 but they remain the outstanding candidates. City and Chelsea.

If Mertesacker has to partner chambers for a significant time then that is a problem for you b/c if Dzeko can beat Chambers for pace than your central defense is so lacking in pace that the huge space behind them will be exploited a lot.

arsenal reminded me of barca yesterday, one touch, sexy football had us tied in knots,i think they`ll be the team to catch this season, wenger has them chomping at the bit and the way they brushed aside the champions with ease yesterday was frightening, anybody who finishes above them will have had a fantastic season...
a joy to watch they was and the arsenal was well up for it,you could tell it meant something to them.

Good God. Give your head a wobble. Do you really think the arse will keep that up all season or that we will be playing that back 4 again.

Embarrassing turnout from City fans. Can't claim to be a big club with a support like that
There is nothing embarrasing about people not wasting their money on a 400 mile round trip to watch a friendly with 1/2 a reserve team. I live 30 minutes away and I wasn't interested, didn't even listen to it, the outcome was obvious back in May, as was the attendence by City fans. Personally I'll keep my money for bigger and better days, I can't stand Wembley, or what it stands for, if I need to go there for a cup final or semi final I will, but I'm not going there for friendly matches with a team full of reserves.

wish i had done the same.

My car packed in the night before so I dodged a bullet. Cost me £25 for the ticket but saved a fortune in fuel, expensive burgers etc. Wembley is a great stadium but the surrounding area is still a shithole and the facilities nearby are crap. To be honest I just don't enjoy London full stop. Had a great time at Dundee though! I think 18,000 was a great turn-out and credit to all those who went. Watching on the TV the Arsenal fans seemed as obnoxious as ever. They don't have much class do they?

I'm not sure about Mertesacker playing straight away, these guys only came back to pre season training today, pretty sure Wenger has already ruled them out of playing next weekend. I think it'll be Monreal & Chambers, and that's why Monreal had a few games at centre back during pre season.

I'm not worried about Chambers apparent lack of pace, I think it was more to do with Dzeko's good piece of skill catching Chambers by suprise giving Dzeko that millisecond of an edge over him in that instance. He certainly didn't look slow at right back last season.

Wenger said that Mertesacker will play if needed but the other 2 germans wont.

The official attendance was 71,523 so that estimate of 18,000 probably exaggerates the City following

I don't like London either. Used to travelling around Manchester on foot whereas London is interminable travel and traffic. You spend hours just getting from A to B. That is such a waste of time

He said he thinks we "approached the game with a degree of indifference" Is English not your first language ?

No, English isn't my first language.
Is that a problem on this forum or for you, dear stony?

I don't see how being indifferent to a 3-0 defeat is so much worse than an indifferent approach leading to a 3-0 defeat.

But everyone's entitled their opinion.

Give your vadge a wipe and simmer down cupcake. I asked the question because you clearly didn't understand his post. That's either because English isn't your first language or you're as thick as pigshit. I gave you the benefit of the doubt.
Looking at how you've responded to my post and taking into consideration how you responded to Mancs, I can see there is a third option. You understood perfectly but just wanted to be a twat. You came here to gloat but have found that most of us are pretty indifferent(there's that word again) and it irked you.
Well tough shit with knobs on.
Anyone is welcome here from whatever country and from whatever team, as long as they behave themselves. You however seem to be bristling with indignation from the off. Unless you simmer down a touch I fear your stay will be a short one.

Ouch! You really hurt my feelings there.
I haven't cried this much since that bully in 1st grade stole my sweets and said I was thick as pigshit and didn't even understand his language.

Actually, English is my 3rd language, so apologies to the original poster who I seem to have misunderstood.
I know most words but some sentences are not so easy to figure out (what does "give your vadge a wipe" mean?).

I respect this forum for there are a lot of posters that are open minded, clever, respectful and seem to have a good view of the game. However, if the moderators don't like my opinion or me standing up for myself when I feel someone's trying to make fun of me, I'll bow gracefully and get my coat.

Enough of that, back to the topic, I think Jovetic actually had a decent game. Seems he wants to prove himself - even in this glorified friendly. Right attitude for someone who wants to make it in a quality team.

Regarding Arsenal's title challenge, I think they look good, have more depth and quality than in recent years and might make it to 3rd or even 2nd this year, but with that competition and a couple of new starters to settle in with a rather short preseason, chances are slim for a jump from 4th to 1st.

I fear Utd will be back in the mix this year. They looked pretty convincing and determined in their preseason friendlies.
