Arsenal Thread - 2022/23

There will always, rightly, be questions asked about a team’s ability to go the distance until they’ve actually done it. That’s no sleight on this Arsenal team. They’ve done everything right so far. But if it comes down to the last few weeks of the season and they can’t afford a slip up, they will be under the sort of pressure that they’ve never known and it’s impossible to know how they’ll react. That’s where City would have a huge advantage. Because we and just as importantly Arsenal, know we have what it takes.

Not that it’s a given that will happen of course. It’s a fair possibility based on what’s happened so far, that unless City buck their ideas up that Arsenal will carry on freerolling until they’re over the horizon. Similar to Leicester did. Who never really had anyone put any pressure on them until it was all done and dusted.

Credit where credit is due.
They do look a decent outfit playing with a lot of confidence under Arteta

Yeah but not being in peak form counts. 5 points dropped back to back in home games against Brentford and Everton. Thats 5 points lost that will be deducted from your entire points tally.

Youve also played 9 home games and 7 away games. We have played 9 away games and 7 home games. We have two more home games than you for the remainder of the season.

As I said, Arteta shouldn't view you as a lurking Shark, but should instead be aggressive and look to put the pressure on City. Which we can only do by continuing to win week to week. Kind of like a prey becomes the predator type thing. All the talk is can Arsenal handle the pressure. Ok fine, let’s beat Newcastle this week and go 10 points clear and see how City respond away to Chelsea.

You’ve convinced me. I declare thee favourites for the title and City have never known a pressure like that of Arteta.

Can’t believe that arsenal are not favourites, they have a huge lead and no Europe to distract them.
If they don’t go on to win the league from here it will be a collapse that they will struggle to get over, worse than united in 2012.

I haven’t given up, if there is a team that can chase them down it’s City, but it’s arsenal’s to lose if you ask me.

If this were a normal season you might be right, but we're 16 games in rather than the usual 20 by Jan, so in a normal year this is not even Xmas yet - so too early even for the dippers to be champions

If we haven't shown the ability to chase down a points deficit previously then I would worry at 7 points going in to the new year but with having to play them twice and the fact we usually hit our stride in the new year still has me believing, however we can all agree that huge improvement is needed and maybe give someone a hammering just to remind the rest of the league what we are capable of.

We've done it ourselves, & seen other team do it.

We were around 15 clear this time last year, and it went to the wire.

When the chips are down, and our tails are up (not a certainty, but a prediction), and should we start chasing the points gap down, do Arsenal have the nerve?

It's gonna be a fun few months.

But true? Listen if you win it fair plays...you will have needed at lot of help from us directly or otherwise...
We don't buy this that you're only looking at C.L spots.
Yours to lose we think;)
As an aside can I ask you what you thought about your club's reprehensible behaviour regarding the instigation of "that" letter?
For me that was the starting pistol for the outright vilification of our club since which has now become an interminable yet tedious media feeding frenzy
It‘s hardly ours to lose. City are, rightfully still favourites. Our aim is top 4 though I’d be disappointed if we don’t at least secure 2nd spot. As for that ‘letter’…get over it, it’s history and I don’t recognise your sense of City being ‘vilified’. That’s nonsense. Your success in the past few years has been nothing but lauded and deservedly so. Your adoption of victim hood is therefore nothing but risible. Lastly, I made my views clear on this forum some time ago that I wasn’t in favour of financial restrictions being used to maintain dominance among just a few clubs as that stops others wanting to compete. All old hat now, though.

But we are the ‘massive’ shark lurking beneath you. We aren’t at peak form which is plain to see, but we’ve won 4 of the last 5 titles, I’m afraid it’s just human nature to look at that and worry what might happen.

Arsenal are right at it and flying, you could well keep that up and win the title at a canter. We don’t look under pressure, we just look off the pace and out of form, it’s on Arsenal to capitalise on that.
We will from now on. The Gooners are flying and we can’t afford any more dropped points.

That's fine mate I didn't know your view on the matter.
No victim mentality , the agenda is as clear as daylight. But you're right in your inference that we just have to do our talking on the pitch
